ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Leadership

• Teach middle school-level science course..

• Develop and implement a rigorous, standards-aligned science curriculum that encourages inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and real-world application of scientific concepts.

• Facilitate hands-on experiments, projects, and laboratory activities that deepen students’ understanding of scientific principles.

• Create and deliver engaging, differentiated lesson plans to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

• Integrate technology, digital resources, and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning and engagement.

• Regularly assess student understanding through a variety of assessments, including tests, quizzes, labs, and projects.

Student Support

• Provide individualized support to students who need additional help, ensuring that all students have the resources they need to succeed in science.

• Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.

• Foster a growth mindset by encouraging students to embrace challenges, think critically, and take risks in their scientific learning.

• Provide after-school support or office hours to help students with difficult concepts or projects.

• Promote active participation and collaboration during class discussions, group work, and science-related activities.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to align instructional practices, share resources, and ensure continuity in the science curriculum.

• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement.

• Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum planning, and professional development opportunities to support the growth of the science program.

• Build strong relationships with students, creating a safe and inclusive classroom where all students feel valued and encouraged to explore science.

Program Development and Growth

• Continuously assess and refine teaching practices based on student feedback, assessment data, and ongoing professional development.

• Encourage students to participate in science-related extracurricular activities such as science fairs, robotics clubs, or environmental initiatives.

• Stay current with the latest trends, research, and best practices in science education to enhance the learning experience for all students.

• QUALIFICATIONS

  Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field.

  • Valid teaching certification in Science (or the ability to obtain certification if applicable).

  • Experience teaching science courses, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and/or Environmental Science.

  • Strong understanding of scientific concepts and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to students.

  • Ability to create hands-on, inquiry-based lessons that engage students and deepen their understanding of scientific principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including students with varying skill levels and learning styles.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for school events, conferences, or meetings.

• Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the growth of the school community.
