Duke's is now looking for a Field Technician to join our Root Control team based out of Syracuse, NY to support critical underground infrastructure projects. As a Field Technician, you’ll play a vital role in applying our exclusive EPA-registered herbicide to control nuisance tree roots in sanitary sewer systems.This position combines hands-on fieldwork with a strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and customer service. This is a traveling position. No prior experience required - we provide paid, on-the-job training. Business travel expenses are paid including lodging, transportation and daily meal per diem!
- Abide by all safety policies and procedures, including wearing required PPE for your safety
- Apply EPA-registered herbicides to sanitary sewer lines using specialized methods and equipment, ensuring safe and effective root control
- Safely drive, mobilize, and operate company vehicles and equipment to and from multiple treatment locations, often requiring extensive travel
- Professionally represent the company in the field, serving as the face of Duke’s while promoting our services and maintaining strong client relationships
- Strictly follow all safety, traffic, and environmental regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily logs, schedules, and project documentation, ensuring all reporting is completed on time
- Collaborate with fellow crew members to support efficient, safe, and high-quality project delivery
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Have a valid driver’s license and a clean MVR
- Are willing to undergo background check, MVR check, pre-employment drug screen, and DOT physical for DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Willingness to travel extensively, including out-of-town and out-of-state assignments up to 75% of the time which may involve driving company vehicles or occasional air travel (business travel expenses are paid + per diem)
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, including environments involving chemicals, sewage, or biohazards
- Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity or wetness, excessive noise, and/or adverse smells
- Must be able to carry and lift up to 65 lbs. of equipment and tools from vehicle to problem area several times per day
- Walking on uneven ground and through shrubbery, bushes, etc.
- Must be able to crawl and kneel in access areas
- Must be able to lift and remove manhole covers and/or enter confined spaces
- Can complete all tasks with or without reasonable accommodations
Compensation: Pay range for this position is the equivalent of approximately $50,000 - $60,000 during the first year of employment on a piece rate pay schedule.
