About the Firm & This Opportunity At Edwards Injury Law, we are a growing plaintiff personal injury firm focused on high-quality cases, strong litigation strategy, and meaningful outcomes for our clients. We are intentional about our growth. This hire is not about adding volume. It is about increasing capacity, elevating our litigation function, and building toward the next stage of the firm. We are hiring our third attorney to expand our litigation capacity and reduce the day-to-day burden on our lead attorney.
Over the next 12 months, we expect to increase case volume, improve case quality, and build a more independent litigation function. Most cases will not flow through the lead attorney. This role is key to making that possible. Role Responsibilities & Litigation Expectations You will step directly into the daily demands of litigation and are expected to contribute as a litigator. Responsibilities include: Discovery (drafting and responding) Motion practice Hearings and court appearances Depositions Case development and preparation Case Ownership & Structure: Begin by working alongside the lead attorney on active cases Transition into managing your own litigation caseload Handle a mix of high-value litigation cases and select pre-suit matters Contribute to and eventually lead case strategy Litigation Profile: While trial experience is preferred, it is not required.
Strong litigation fundamentals are essential. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience with depositions, substantive motion practice, hearings, and proactively advancing litigation. How You Work: Strong attention to detail and high-quality work product Clear, professional communication Ownership of decisions and outcomes Ability to think critically and engage in strategy Growth & Development: Independent caseload management Mentorship opportunities Contribution to firm-wide litigation strategy Path toward senior leadership or managing attorney Business Development (Future-Focused): Build relationships within the legal community Participate in bar associations and professional organizations Develop referral sources over time Required Qualifications Active license to practice law in North Carolina and in good standing 3+ years of litigation experience (personal injury preferred, but not required) Demonstrated experience handling core litigation tasks, including depositions, motion practice, and court appearances Strong legal writing and analytical skills Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Candidates must be able to demonstrate ownership of their work product and decision-making in prior roles.
