The Water Purification Technician/Installer will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and service repairs on marine water maker units. This position will also be responsible for the installation of new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, service, and repair of marine water maker systems, working through membranes, pumps, valves, and control panels to identify the source of a problem and resolve it correctly the first time
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits for faults and open circuits, using meters and testing equipment to isolate issues before making repairs
- Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauges or a soap-and-water solution to confirm a watertight seal before returning a system to service
- Join pipes or tubing to equipment and to water or refrigerant sources to form a complete, properly sealed circuit
- Install new electrical wiring and reroute existing electrical as needed to support new or upgraded water purification equipment
- Reassemble and test equipment following repairs, confirming proper flow rates, pressure, and water quality before signing off on the job
- Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring, sourcing the correct replacement parts and documenting what was changed
- Layout and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagrams, using an electrician's hand tools
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and maintaining a clean work area aboard the vessel
- Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications, or to detect and locate malfunctions before they become larger issues for the customer
- Build toward troubleshooting, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing marine air conditioning and refrigeration systems as needed, based on business demands
