Dining Services at Elizabethtown College is seeking (2) full-time Cooks.
This role prepares and serves high-quality food throughout Elizabethtown College Dining Services while maintaining established standards for food safety, sanitation, quality, presentation, and customer service. Cooks may work in the Marketplace, residential dining, retail dining, Fresh Nest, the Food Truck, catering, or other Dining Services operations and may be cross-trained or assigned between locations based on operational needs. Employees are expected to learn and perform the responsibilities associated with their assigned location(s).
Location-Specific Responsibilities Marketplace/Residential Dining
- Prepare food in appropriate quantities for high-volume residential dining service
- Follow production sheets, recipes, menus, and established production schedules
- Prepare and maintain food for assigned stations, including action/display cooking stations as applicable
- Monitor service levels and replenish food throughout meal periods while maintaining quality and presentation standards
- Adjust production based on guest counts, service volume, and available product to reduce shortages and excess production
- Properly cool, label, store, and document leftover food in accordance with established procedure
- Communicate production needs, shortages, substitutions, and other concerns to culinary leadership
Jay's Nest & Food Truck
- Prepare made-to-order menu items accurately and efficiently in a high-volume retail environment
- Read and execute guest orders/tickets while maintaining appropriate speed of service and product quality
- Operate grills, fryers, ovens, and other equipment associated with assigned menu concepts
- Maintain adequate product levels and complete preparation necessary to support service
- Communicate with front-of-house employees to ensure order accuracy and timely service
- Assist with setup, breakdown, stocking, and cleaning of the Food Truck or retail operation as assigned
- Maintain organization and food safety standards in limited-space production environments
Fresh Nest
- Prepare smoothies, açaí bowls, grab-and-go items, and other Fresh Nest menu offerings according to established recipes and portion standards
- Prepare and portion fruits, vegetables, bases, toppings, and other ingredients needed for service
- Maintain consistency in product appearance, portioning, and presentation
- Monitor ingredient levels, freshness, and quality throughout service
- Follow established procedures for allergen awareness and prevention of cross-contact
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of blenders, utensils, equipment, refrigeration, and food-contact surfaces
- Assist with preparation, packaging, labeling, and stocking of grab-and-go products as assigned
