    Dining Services at Elizabethtown College is seeking (2) General Kitchen Utility Workers. Position #1 : Is a yearly 10-month role, mid-August through mid-May. Summers off! Position #2: is a yearly 12-month role. Please indicate which position you would prefer when applying. Full for consideration, please provide a resume and contact information for three references. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure proper cleaning, sanitation, and organization of all service ware, cooking utensils, and equipment for residential dining facilities, cash operations, and catered events.

    This position also supports overall kitchen cleanliness, including deep cleaning of kitchen floors, walk-ins, and workspaces.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Clean and sanitize all service ware, cooking utensils, and kitchen equipment Clean, sanitize, and maintain all beverage, waffle, and cereal equipment Preform dish room duties, including pre-rinsing dishware, washing flatware, plates, bowls and scrubbing pots and pans Clean and sanitize dining room tables and chairs Maintain adequate stock levels of dishes, flatware, beverage, cereal, waffle mix, and related items Utilize all equipment and chemicals safely and effectively Always maintain the highest levels of safety and sanitation Maintain sanitation and equipment records as required Maintain optimum station coverage at all times and cover for coworkers’ breaks and PTO Provide exceptional customer service Train student personnel Clean and maintain kitchen spaces, including floors, walk-in coolers, and prep areas Ensure all kitchen areas are properly closed, organized and ready for the following day’s operation Other duties as assigned NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist in receiving deliveries and stocking inventory as required Assist in food production as required Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) QUALIFICATIONS To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

Other Skills, Abilities, and/or Training Ability to work extended hours/overtime as needed Ability to work holidays Ability to work weekends Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work within strict deadlines Good interpersonal skills and desire to be a team player Exceptional customer service skills Excellent oral communication skills (i.e. ability to deal effectively with others, speak professionally on the phone, etc.) Ability to read and communicate in English at a high school level PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to stand for long periods of time Regularly required to walk about Regularly required to maintain balance while walking, standing, crouching, or running Occasionally required to reach up and out with hands and arms Regularly required to talk and hear; verbally express information or instructions Regularly required to use hands to grasp objects, type, pick up objects, move objects, or hold objects Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl Regularly required to climb stairs and/or ladders Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry a distance of 10 feet Occasionally required to push and/or pull up to 50 pounds a distance of 10 feet VISION REQUIREMENTS To successfully perform this position, individuals must possess the following: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships Adjustable focus WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job.

    The individual is regularly exposed to indoor conditions and moderate noise level; the individual is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather and temperature extremes. The individual is occasionally exposed to chemicals and fumes related to facility sanitation.
