Scientist, Antibody Discovery

Your mission

Engitix Therapeutics is a pioneering biotech company dedicated to unlocking extracellular matrix biology to develop transformative therapeutics in fibrosis and oncology. We are seeking an accomplished Scientist to join our Antibody Discovery team and play a hands-on role in the screening and characterisation of antibody candidates across multiple modalities.
You will work closely with the team to design, run and interpret binding assays (ELISA, SPR), support antibody discovery campaigns, and liaise with external CROs. We are looking for someone who is proactive, comfortable working across different protein formats, and excited by the pace and variety of a biotech setting.
What you’ll do  

• Design, execute and troubleshoot lab-based binding assays, including ELISA and SPR, to support hit identification and characterisation
• Contribute to antibody discovery and screening campaigns across multiple modalities 
• Analyse, interpret and clearly present experimental data to the team and in project meetings
• Proactively identify and troubleshoot technical issues, proposing new approaches where needed
• Keep accurate, well-organised records using electronic lab notebooks in line with good laboratory practice
• Drive smart, automated sample handling
• Work flexibly across projects and priorities as needs evolve

Your profile

You bring solid hands-on lab experience; whether through an MSc plus a few years in industry, or a PhD, and are keen to apply your scientific training in a fast-paced, commercially-driven environment. You are curious and comfortable thinking. You thrive on variety, pick up new techniques quickly, and enjoy the pace and ownership that comes with working in a biotech. Above all, you are a team player who communicates clearly and enjoys collaborating with colleagues across functions.
What you’ll need 

• BSc or MSc in a biological subject with relevant lab experience in an academic or biotech setting
• Hands-on experience running ELISA and/or SPR (or other protein-protein interaction methods, e.g. BLI)
• Good working knowledge of antibody discovery and/or antibody drug development concepts:  selection, humanisation, Fc-engineering, production, purification and developability profiling
• Comfortable working with, or keen to quickly learn, multiple antibody modalities (e.g. monoclonals, bispecifics, fragments)
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A proactive, adaptable mindset with genuine enthusiasm for working in a biotech environment

Desirable 

• Prior experience working with or managing CROs
• Experience with in vivo campaigns
• Experience/knowledgeof cell-based assays (e.g. flow cytometry, Fc effector function assays)
• Exposure to high-throughput screening approaches
• Prior industry, placement, or internship experience in a biotech/pharma setting
