The Bilingual Residential Mortgage Funder is responsible for reviewing legal documents and taking loans through to funding. This includes following up for outstanding documents, advising the Closing Service Provider of any amendments or changes required to complete the file and preparing mortgage advance cheques.
Job Complexities/Thinking Challenges
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring loans are carried successfully through to funding. Files at this level are usually of moderate complexity but can become complex at times and require careful attention to detail. The incumbent is required to follow EQB guidelines in order to work through files efficiently and accurately however, many situations can arise that differ from the norm and the incumbent must be experienced enough to deal with these situations.
Accountability
The incumbent operates under direct management and their work is monitored by management. Regular decision making pertaining to file management and maintenance is required and supplemented by procedures that limit the possibility for errors to occur. The incumbent is responsible for approving the release of mortgage funds and must be capable of checking files accurately and efficiently.
The role will have a substantial impact on the success of the Single Family Residential department in reaching its strategic goals and other departmental objectives.
Key Internal and External Contacts
The Incumbent is required to communicate daily with the Manager of Residential Funding, the Underwriting Team as well as members of the Quality Assurance Team, the Compliance Team, and other departmental staff. Daily communication with the Closing Service Provider is also required.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Normal office environment with moderate, job related pressure related to fixed closing dates, uncooperative solicitors, absence of required documentation and obtaining signed cheques in time to meet funding deadlines.
Individuals in this role must be available to work at month end due to very busy closing dates. Vacations during this time period will not be accepted.
