Custodian

Job Summary

Employees in this classification work under close supervision and are responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas within academic and administrative buildings, medical facilities, residence halls, and apartments. Duties may also include assisting with the maintenance of assigned grounds and performing a variety of custodial and cleaning tasks as assigned.

Employees must be available to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Overtime may be required based on operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures preferred
• Ability to understand and use materials and equipment used in custodial work
• Ability to follow simple instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of eighth grade

• Market Range – 2 (Salary Schedules)
