At Everstand, Youth Care Professionals (YCPs) play an important role in helping youth feel safe, supported, and empowered to heal and thrive. YCPs provide direct care and supervision in a trauma-informed residential treatment setting while building positive, professional relationships with youth. You’ll work alongside clinical, education, and medical professionals to support each young person’s safety, development, and treatment goals.

What You’ll Do

• Safety & Supervision: Provide 24/7 supervision and maintain a safe, structured, trauma-informed environment while following individualized care plans, PBIS practices, and safety protocols.
• Youth Care & Relationships: Support youth with daily living needs, routines, hygiene, meals, and independence while building trusting, youth-guided relationships through empathy, active listening, and professional boundaries.
• Therapeutic Engagement & Behavioral Support: Lead and participate in activities that develop social skills, communication, conflict resolution, education, recreation, and life skills. Support treatment strategies and respond to behavioral escalations using trained Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques.
• Health & Transportation: Administer medication when certified and safely transport youth to medical, educational, and legal appointments as needed.
• Documentation & Communication: Complete accurate shift logs, incident and medication records, and other required documentation while maintaining timely, professional, and confidential communication.
• Teamwork, Family & Compliance: Partner with families and clinical, education, medical, and residential teams to support treatment goals while following HIPAA, state and organizational requirements and mandated reporting responsibilities.
• Flexibility & Environment: Maintain a clean, secure living environment, complete required safety checks and belongings inventories, participate in training and on-call coverage, and remain flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and program areas.

Required Education and Experience

Level I – Youth Care Professional

High School Diploma, GED, or AA required with a minimum of 1 year of employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents, or a similar setting.

Level II – Youth Care Professional (Advanced)

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related human services field.

Preferred Education and Experience

• 1 year of employment experience in the child welfare field working with youth or in similar setting.
• Experience in youth services, behavioral health, or trauma-informed settings strongly preferred.
• Comfortable working in emotionally intense or unpredictable environments.
• Firsthand insight into the child welfare and human services landscape, gained through direct engagement as a family member, youth, or caregiver impacted by these systems; used to shape responsive, inclusive, and compliant programming.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
• Must pass background checks (CPS, fingerprinting), drug screening, TB screening, and physical work-readiness.

• Must obtain and maintain certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or/and First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain RCYCP certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Office of Refugee and Resettlement (ORR) Suitability Determination in accordance with position requirements.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, typically 33–40 hours per week, with schedules based on program needs. Employees must be flexible and available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather as needed. The role involves working with youth who may display challenging behaviors, emotional outbursts, or physical agitation. Employees must be able to safely perform trained physical interventions when necessary and occasionally lift or transport up to 25 pounds. The position requires the ability to move, stand or remain stationary, communicate, observe, assess situations, and perform other physical activities necessary to support youth safely. This position is considered essential during emergencies and inclement weather.

Travel

Local travel for appointments or cross-site coverage may be required. Mileage reimbursement or an agency vehicle is provided for approved travel.
