JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that carry various substances like steam, water, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass 6G Welding test
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES - Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Strong mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of different piping systems and material
- Proven ability to perform high-quality welds in either GTAW (Tig) and/or SMAW (stick) welding processes in various positions up to and including 6G
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that carry various substances like steam, water, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and industrial standards
- Familiarity with a wide range of pipe materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and aluminum
- Use various tools and equipment, such as welding machines, grinders, torches, and cutting systems
- Follow established Weld Procedure Specifications and equipment setup within parameters for amperage, voltage, gas flow to cover multiple material types and wall thicknesses
- Fabricate pipe spools and components as per project requirements using various welding and fitting techniques
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan the layout of piping systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards
- Test piping systems for leaks using methods like hydrostatic testing or air pressure tests
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and industry codes
- Lead and instruct mechanical piping helpers, mechanics, and fitters
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely
- Other tasks as assigned
