Role Overview
We are looking for an Operations & Procurement Specialist to support a growing direct-to-consumer company that produces and delivers fresh, human-grade dog food through a subscription model.
In this individual contributor role, you will help ensure that the company remains stocked, organized, and on schedule. You will oversee the operational process from raw-material planning and procurement through inventory management, freight coordination, and the successful fulfillment of customer orders.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple orders, suppliers, shipments, and operational priorities in a fast-paced remote environment.
Location
Fully remote position within LATAM.
Contract Duration
Long-term, full-time contractor position.
Working Hours
Monday through Friday during standard Eastern Time business hours.
Language Requirement
Advanced English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain weekly and monthly demand forecasts based on subscription data, growth trends, and promotional activity.
- Translate demand forecasts into purchasing and production plans.
- Place and track purchase orders for ingredients and packaging materials.
- Compare supplier quotes and maintain accurate information regarding costs, lead times, and minimum order quantities.
- Monitor inventory levels and weeks of supply across different locations.
- Identify potential inventory shortages or excess stock and communicate risks early.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and support inventory reconciliation.
- Oversee subscription fulfillment and ensure orders are shipped accurately and on time.
- Investigate and resolve fulfillment issues in Shopify.
- Coordinate with internal teams regarding delays, substitutions, and other customer-impacting issues.
- Book and manage inbound and outbound freight, including temperature-controlled shipments.
- Compare carrier rates and track shipments through final delivery.
- Prepare weekly reports covering inventory, fulfillment performance, forecast accuracy, freight expenses, and purchasing activity.
- Identify recurring operational problems and develop improved spreadsheets, templates, and AI-assisted workflows.
What You’ll Bring
- One to three years of professional experience in operations, procurement, supply chain, inventory planning, or a related area.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and forecast-model development.
- Experience working with an e-commerce platform, ideally Shopify.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple open purchase orders, shipments, and operational priorities simultaneously.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and productively in a remote environment.
- A proactive approach to identifying operational risks and resolving issues before they affect customers.
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Experience in a direct-to-consumer subscription business.
- Background in food, consumer packaged goods, or perishable and frozen products.
- Experience coordinating less-than-truckload or refrigerated freight.
- Experience with demand forecasting, purchasing, inventory planning, or subscription fulfillment.
- Familiarity with Shopify-based fulfillment workflows.
- Experience using AI tools, such as Claude or similar platforms, to accelerate analysis, reporting, or operational processes.
