The schedule for this position is: Monday-Friday, 10:00 am - 7:00 pm.
The Air Export Agent is responsible for the end-to-end execution of international air export shipments while ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial accuracy, and exceptional customer service. The position serves as a key liaison between customers, overseas Expeditors offices, airline partners, trucking providers, gateways, customs authorities, and internal departments.
Scope of Position
Process shipments, coordinate with the Expeditors global network for operational requests, perform shipment auditing, documentation management, compliance reviews, customs-related submissions, invoicing activities, and shipment milestone management.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow while meeting department KPI and quality standards.
- Utilize AEX Workboard, Export ETMS, and company operational systems to maintain accurate and timely shipment records.
- Monitor, track, and update all air export shipments from origin through final destination.
- Coordinate daily with overseas offices, gateways, airline carriers, trucking companies, customs brokers, and customers.
- Prepare, validate, and manage export documentation including MAWB, HAWB, commercial invoices, packing lists, and export declarations.
- Maintain customer SOPs and ensure customer-specific requirements are executed consistently.
- Provide proactive communication regarding shipment status, delays, exceptions, and recovery plans.
- Ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing, vendor costing, and file profitability management.
- Adhere to internal controls and all regulatory requirements including TSA, IATA, FAA, EAR, DG, and export compliance requirements.
- Identify process improvements that increase operational efficiency, productivity, and service quality.
- Support audit activities and maintain complete, audit-ready shipment files.
- Complete office closing, safety, and security responsibilities in accordance with company procedures.
Internal Customer Service & Network Coordination
- Serve as the primary internal operational contact for assigned customers.
- Develop strong working relationships across the Expeditors global network.
- Respond to customer and overseas requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Escalate service failures and drive corrective actions to resolution.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Air freight forwarding experience preferred.
- IATA FIATA certification preferred.
- 1+ years of logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, supply chain, or customer service experience preferred but not required
