Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence to join the Portfolio Strategy team within ESS Portfolio Marketing.

You will lead competitive and market intelligence across ESS, developing a deep and forward-looking understanding of competitor strategies, market dynamics, client trends and external developments. You will also turn this intelligence into relevant insights that help shape ESS's strategic priorities, portfolio decisions and go-to-market approach.

Your focus will be to build and evolve a systematic Competitive Intelligence capability across ESS.

You will also contribute to broader strategic planning, including the ESS five-year strategic plan, market prioritization, growth opportunities and strategic plans.

You will report to the Senior Director, Portfolio Strategy.

What you'll do:

• Lead competitive and market intelligence: Lead analysis of competitor strategies, business models, product positioning, pricing, partnerships, M&A activity, market dynamics, client trends and regulatory developments.
• Build the Competitive Intelligence capability: Develop and continuously improve a systematic CI approach across ESS, including competitor profiles, market maps, win/loss insights, intelligence repositories, early-warning indicators and recurring intelligence updates.
• Translate intelligence into action: Turn complex and sometimes conflicting market and competitive information into clear points of view, implications and recommended actions.
• Develop executive perspectives: Articulate strategic insights and recommendations, concisely and compellingly for senior executive and Board-level audiences. Develop high-quality executive presentations, perspectives and materials that translate intelligence into business possible effects.
• Establish an external perspective: Maintain an understanding of relevant markets, competitors and emerging trends through external research, industry sources, client and partner input, and other intelligence channels. Identify emerging signals and developments before they become established market trends.

What you'll bring:

• Ability to frame ambiguous strategic questions, distinguish signal from noise, challenge assumptions and use evidence to reach commercially relevant conclusions.
• Strong stakeholder and collaboration skills, with experience building relationships across Product, Sales, Marketing, GTM, Analyst Relations, Finance and Strategy and influencing decisions without relying on formal authority.
• Demonstrated competitive intelligence, market intelligence or strategy experience, ideally gained in competitive intelligence, corporate strategy, strategy consulting or a related strategic role.
