    Job description

Caregiver – 12-Hour Shifts | Complimentary Housing Accommodation Available

Family Best Care is seeking a reliable, compassionate caregiver for an ongoing assignment supporting a client with memory care needs.

This opportunity is ideal for a caregiver who values consistency, enjoys building relationships with clients, and takes pride in providing dependable, high-quality care. The caregiver will provide companionship, support daily routines, assist with activities of daily living, promote client safety, and help maintain a calm and structured environment.

    Schedule

This is an ongoing client assignment with 12-hour shifts.

    • 12-hour shifts
    • Coverage needs are available 7 days per week
    • Applicants should provide their consistent weekly availability
    • Reliable and consistent attendance is essential

    Location, Commute & Complimentary Housing

The assignment may require an approximately 30-mile / 1-hour commute each way, depending on the caregiver's location.

To make this assignment more accessible for caregivers who prefer not to make the return commute after completing a 12-hour shift, Family Best Care can provide complimentary housing accommodations near the client's location.

There is no cost to the caregiver for the housing accommodation. Caregivers may use the accommodation to rest between scheduled shifts rather than commuting home immediately following a long shift.

Use of the complimentary accommodation is optional and does not require the caregiver to remain on duty outside of their scheduled working hours.

Applicants should still have reliable transportation to travel to and from the assignment as required.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
    • Support bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene
    • Assist with mobility, transfers, and fall prevention
    • Provide companionship, conversation, and meaningful engagement
    • Offer calm reassurance and redirection when needed
    • Support daily routines and maintain a structured environment
    • Prepare meals and encourage hydration and nutrition
    • Monitor for safety concerns and changes in condition
    • Complete light housekeeping related to the client's care
    • Accompany the client to appointments, errands, or community activities as needed
    • Complete accurate documentation and care notes
    • Communicate client updates and concerns to the Family Best Care office promptly
    • Follow the care plan and established client routines

    Ideal Candidate

    The ideal caregiver:

    • Has experience supporting clients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory-related conditions
    • Is comfortable working 12-hour shifts
    • Is patient, calm, dependable, and compassionate
    • Understands the importance of routine and consistency
    • Provides respectful, person-centered care
    • Can redirect and reassure clients appropriately
    • Recognizes and responds to safety concerns
    • Communicates professionally with family members and office staff
    • Maintains strong attendance and reliability
    • Follows care plans and instructions carefully

    Pay & Benefits

    • $28.00 per hour
    • Complimentary housing accommodation available near the assignment
    • Overtime paid at 1.5x when applicable
    • Holiday pay for company-recognized holidays when applicable
    • Health insurance available for employees consistently working 35+ hours per week
    • Opportunity for ongoing assignments and additional hours
    • Support from a responsive and experienced office team

    Requirements

    • Active Washington State HCA, CNA, or NAC credential
    • Current CPR certification
    • Current TB test or screening
    • Current Washington State Food Worker Card
    • Valid government-issued photo identification
    • Reliable transportation
    • Reliable phone access for work-related communication
    • Ability to complete onboarding requirements
    • Availability to work assigned 12-hour shifts
    • Comfort working with clients who have memory care needs

Caregivers who are interested in the assignment but concerned about the commute are encouraged to apply. Complimentary housing accommodations are available for caregivers who prefer to stay near the client's location rather than make the return commute after their shift.

Qualified applicants who meet credentialing, availability, reliability, and onboarding requirements will be contacted regarding the next step in the hiring process.
