    • Employment Type: Full Time
    • Compensation: Please see job description for more details.

We are currently seeking a Wealth Planning Specialist to join our team, providing support to our branches in Nanaimo & Chemainus.

The Wealth Planning Specialist (WPS) delivers professional, comprehensive financial planning advice to high-value members across assigned credit union branches. Through a holistic review of each member's financial situation, the WPS develops financial planning and investment recommendations aligned with the member's goals and life-cycle needs. Using wealth management guidelines and professional judgment, the WPS determines the best ongoing advice relationship and connects the member with the appropriate advisor. As part of the discovery process, the WPS proactively uncovers opportunities with current and prospective members for wealth planning and related products and services. The role also strengthens wealth capability across assigned branches by sharing expertise, coaching advisors and supporting high-quality member conversations. The WPS does not manage an ongoing member portfolio.

Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day

    1. Business Development: Serves as an expert in the wealth discovery process, identifying financial planning needs and engaging current and prospective members to deepen relationships. Partners closely with advisors to develop, cultivate, and manage referral pipelines, identifying opportunities to connect members with appropriate advice solutions while driving growth, member engagement, and relationship expansion. Through portfolio analysis and comprehensive financial planning, uncovers opportunities to consolidate external and internal assets and broaden the member relationship. Builds a strong community presence, develops external referral relationships, pursues opportunities with prospective members and confidently represents the full range of Tru Cooperative Bank products and services.
    2. Sales and Service Strategy: Where applicable, provides comprehensive financial planning advice across a wide range of products and services to high-value current and prospective members, using approved financial planning tools. Determines the most appropriate ongoing advice relationship for each member by assessing their financial needs, goals, and complexity of circumstances, and facilitates seamless connections to the advisor best positioned to deliver the right advice and long-term support. Ensures recommendations and strategies align with member objectives and the advisor's role, supporting a consistent advice experience, and effective implementation of financial planning solutions. Looks for meaningful opportunities to help members simplify and strengthen their financial lives by consolidating assets with Tru Cooperative Bank.
    3. Risk Management: Provides advice and acts in accordance with ethical standards, Aviso policies and applicable regulatory requirements, helping protect members and Tru Cooperative Bank. Maintains strong compliance with audit and risk management policies and procedures and demonstrates sound professional judgment in all member interactions.
    4. Leadership: Acts as a visible wealth champion across assigned branches, building trusted relationships and creating shared accountability for an exceptional member experience. Provides subject matter expertise, coaching and practical guidance that strengthen advisor confidence and capability in wealth conversations. Proactively identifies branch opportunities, helps teams translate wealth strategy into action and supports consistent use of the Wealth Continuum. Influences without direct authority, models strong professional judgment and brings partners together to remove barriers, improve referral quality and advance member outcomes. Shares insights, best practices and emerging opportunities with branch and wealth partners to support continuous improvement and collective success.
