    Job description

Design Engineer – Energy Infrastructure | Civil Engineering - Sugar Land, TX

Sugar Land, TX offers a strong market for energy infrastructure, utility development, renewable energy, land development, and civil engineering. The region provides opportunities for engineers supporting energy and utility projects that require site design, stormwater management, permitting, utility coordination, and collaboration with infrastructure owners and regulatory agencies.

As a Design Engineer on Fisher's Energy Group, you'll support civil engineering design for solar, wind, electric and gas utilities, pipelines, and power systems. You'll apply your experience in civil site design, stormwater, utility coordination, environmental permitting, and construction while working with clients, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of energy infrastructure projects while continuing to develop your technical and project delivery skills. You'll have opportunities to take ownership of design work, contribute to permitting decisions, and learn from experienced professionals while supporting projects that impact communities and critical infrastructure.

    What You'll Do

    • Design site layouts, grading, utilities, drainage, stormwater, and erosion control solutions.
    • Develop plans, calculations, estimates, reports, and construction documents.
    • Support stormwater and environmental permitting initiatives and ensure designs comply with state and local regulations, safety codes, and industry standards.
    • Lead environmental assessments and permitting efforts while collaborating with clients and regulatory agencies to secure approvals.
    • Support electric, gas, and telecom utility design and Environmental Management & Construction Plans (EM&CP).
    • Oversee construction progress to ensure work follows plans and safety standards.
    • Participate in project planning, coordinate engineering tasks with scope, schedule, and budget, and maintain accurate project records.
    • Prepare proposals and cost estimates for renewable energy, oil & gas, and utility projects while supporting internal teams with documentation, coordination, and presentations.
