    Overview

    The Associate Director of Field Operations is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing all field operations activities within assigned territories or markets. This role ensures operational excellence through strong leadership, workforce development, strategic planning, customer relationship management, and execution of company objectives.

    The Associate Director of Field Operations is accountable for ensuring field operations are completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with customer expectations, company standards, and regulatory requirements. This position provides leadership and oversight to Field Managers, Area Supervisors, Field Specialists, and field employees while fostering a culture aligned with company mission, vision, and values.

    This role supports operational performance, employee development, succession planning, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement initiatives, and long-term operational growth across all assigned markets.

    Responsibilities

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    An Associate Director of Field Operations spearheads and oversees the daily field operations of a

    company, including its other sites within a defined territory map. They have the authority to make

    significant decisions based on extensive research and reviews while adhering to company standards

    and regulations. Duties include administrative tasks, such as overseeing the department's

    employment and training procedures, developing sales strategies, setting objectives and guidelines,

    establishing budgets, and building positive relationships with potential business partners. The

    Director of Field Operations will also lead and empower staff in a joint effort to reach department

    goals.

    Duties/Responsibilities: 

    Leadership & Team Management

    • Directly oversee multiple Field Managers and field leadership teams across assigned territories.
    • Lead, mentor, develop, and evaluate Field Managers, Area Supervisors, Field Specialists, and field personnel.
    • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, coaching sessions, annual performance reviews, and corrective action procedures.
    • Develop succession plans and maintain leadership bench strength to support operational growth.
    • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and retain field operations personnel.
    • Foster a positive, high-accountability work environment focused on teamwork, safety, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
    • Lead weekly and monthly operational meetings with field leadership teams.
    • Partner with Human Resources regarding employee relations, investigations, performance management, and corrective actions.
    • Support cross-functional operational initiatives and Operations Services Center leadership.

    Operations Management

    • Oversee and support all field operations activities within assigned territories.
    • Ensure successful planning, coordination, and execution of field operations according to operational and customer requirements.
    • Monitor operational progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet deadlines, quality standards, safety expectations, and business objectives.
    • Allocate field resources effectively to maximize operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
    • Develop and implement operational standards, procedures, goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives.
    • Maintain staffing levels and operational readiness to support customer demand and business growth.
    • Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives across field operations.
    • Spend significant time in the field building employee and customer relationships while ensuring operational excellence.

    Customer & Business Development

    • Build and maintain strong client relationships at both operational and senior management levels.
    • Serve as a primary escalation point for operational and customer issues.
    • Identify and communicate business development opportunities to the Business Development team.
    • Support customer retention, operational consistency, and overall service quality.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure all field operations comply with company policies, customer requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Conduct regular field inspections, quality assurance reviews, and work zone observations to ensure safety and operational compliance.
    • Assist the Safety Department with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and fact-finding processes.
    • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety standards and operational best practices.

    Financial & Performance Management

    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, staffing levels, and financial performance.
    • Establish, manage, and track operational budgets, forecasts, labor utilization, and project performance.
    • Prepare operational reports, forecasts, incident documentation, and performance updates for executive leadership.
    • Support operational efficiency and profitability initiatives across assigned markets.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Support storm response operations and travel as necessary to support company operations across markets.
    • Attend trade shows, leadership meetings, training sessions, and quarterly corporate meetings as required.
    • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strategic planning and operational oversight capabilities.
    • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Ability to analyze operational data, KPIs, and performance metrics.
    • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
    • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, labor planning, and operational performance.
    • Ability to build and maintain strong client and employee relationships.
    • Knowledge of workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
    • Strong understanding of safety standards, compliance requirements, and operational best practices.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic field environments.
    • Ability to travel extensively based on operational needs.
    • Steel-toed boots or ability to obtain prior to employment.
