Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University Research Computing Systems is seeking a motivated Student Web Developer in Boca Raton, FL.

The Student Web Developer will assist with the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Sunshine State Educational and Research Computing Alliance (SSERCA) website and related web-based resources. This role provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in web development, software engineering, user experience design, and research computing technologies.

The Student Web Developer will work directly with the Assistant Director of Research Computing Systems and collaborate with faculty, staff, and regional research computing partners to improve online services, reporting tools, and web content supporting the research community.

About SSERCA

The Sunshine State Educational and Research Computing Alliance (SSERCA) supports collaboration among institutions engaged in advanced computing, networking, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science, and research infrastructure. The SSERCA website serves as a hub for information sharing, events, member resources, and regional research computing initiatives.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Maintain and enhance the SSERCA website and associated web applications.
• Develop new website features and improve existing functionality.
• Assist with content updates, layout improvements, and usability enhancements.
• Create and maintain responsive web pages that work across desktop and mobile devices.
• Troubleshoot website issues and implement fixes.
• Collaborate with Research Computing staff on technical requirements and project planning.
• Assist with integration of forms, databases, APIs, and reporting tools as needed.
• Support accessibility and web standards compliance.
• Participate in testing and quality assurance activities.
• Document development processes and technical solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree-seeking undergraduate student with a minimum of six credit hours (or twelve if international) and a 2.0 GPA. Student Assistants fall under the non-exempt, hourly pay rate type.
Preferred Qualifications
• Current Florida Atlantic University student in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong interest in web development and learning modern web technologies.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems is a plus.

Salary:

$15.00 per hour.
