    Job description

    Fortinet, a global leader and innovator in Network Security and the leading cyber security vendor in Latin America, has the following job opening in our Latin America Engineering team.

    Fortinet seeks a Consulting Security Engineer in support of sales, marketing and development efforts in the Latin American region. A CSE is a Senior Engineer, part of an elite team, who acts as an architect and advisor to the field of engineering and accounts teams. The CSE engages in large impact deals across a range of industries by providing expert advice on the design, architecture, and implementation of solutions that best meet the specific customer needs. The CSE works alongside peer field engineers, account teams, and channel partners throughout the sales process. The CSE is expected to shape the positive outcome of customer engagements such as presentations, meetings, demonstrations, and proof of concept (POC) activities. This role offers high visibility to senior management, networking across corporate teams as well as the opportunity to shape the business and the direction of our future products.

    Responsibilities

    • - Support sales activities in Latin America as a strategic and high-level regional technical resource for strategic pre-sales engagements and key opportunities.

    • - Conduct technical meetings with customers and resellers to highlight our products and solutions.

    • - Participate in the planning and execution of proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives both on-site and remotely.

    • - Provide pre-sales technical support to Fortinet Sales representatives, Fortinet resellers and distributors, to positively influence sales within Latin America.

    • - Assist Fortinet Sales representatives to perform technical design of security solutions for customers. Recommend the best technical solution for a given scenario, to provide quality products and services to Fortinet’s customers

    • - Act as a subject-matter expert in pre-sales design reviews and serve as consultant to Field Systems Engineers by providing technical guidance and leadership.

    • - Participate with SE peers to lead the design and architecture of secure IP networks utilizing and leveraging all aspects of Fortinet’s product line to create superior solutions in competitive environments.

    • - Provide training to System Engineers at various events worldwide and mentor SE specialists within Virtual Teams.

    • - Work closely with Product Management and Engineering to help identify, qualify, and develop features critical to Fortinet’s success.

    • - Work with Fortinet’s marketing teams to help understand specific market needs to drive the appropriate activities that can impact positively the market’s perception towards Fortinet.

    • - Create technical documents that can help the partner base to perform better/quicker/ demonstration demos to effectively show Fortinet’s products strengths.

    • - Create/Modify/translate presentations as needed to effectively deliver Fortinet’s message to any type of audience

    • - Be part of the internal engineering communities (Tech Teams, Mailing lists) and assist others within or outside the region, to make Fortinet more successful as a company

    • - Be part of a distributed team of people that shares workloads and assignments. Strong sense of teamwork is required.

    • - Take internal training as needed (including self-training modules) to keep product knowledge at the best possible, and be an expert resource for resellers, partners, distributors, and other peers.

    • - Travel within Latin America on short notice.

    • - Comply with activity reports and ensure timely communication with CSE Manager / CSE VP.

    Qualifications

    • - Minimum 12 years of technical experience in networking/computing.

    • - Extensive and proven experience in designing, building and supporting advanced cybersecurity solutions in a customer-facing role. 8+ years of related experience.

    • - Strong network and security skills including hands-on experience with products from top security vendors

    • Strong understanding of: 

    • - Hands-on Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools and SOC Operations use case development and operations.

    • - Experience with Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) tools will be considered a plus

    • - Hands-on experience with Incident Response playbooks, processes, and procedures. 

    • - Hands-on ability to write custom integration connectors using REST APIs, JSON payloads, and authentication methods (OAuth, API keys).

    • - Familiar with security compliance standards and frameworks such as ISO27K, MITRE ATT&CK and NIST Cybersecurity.

    • - Strong knowledge of current infrastructure and application monitoring solutions in the industry.

    • Deep understanding of:

    • - Mastery of regex-based log parsing, field extraction, and data mapping into standard schemas (e.g., ECS, CEF, CIM).

    • - Hands-on skill optimizing query performance, retention tiers, hot/warm/cold storage policies, and licensing EPS/GB costs.

    • - Hands-on experience operationalizing the MITRE ATT&CK matrix and using query syntaxes.

    • - Proven expertise designing and debugging complex end-to-end incident response playbooks with human-in-the-loop decision logic.

    • - Cyber Security Domains and Principles

    • - Familiar with Security Risk Assessment and Management

    • - Experience working in a Managed Services (MSSP) environment

    • - Experienced with log/data analysis and management tools

    • - Good understanding and hands-on experience with Virtualization and Public Cloud Computing platforms is a plus.

    • - Ability to understand the specific customer environments and their security needs, and to articulate the best technical solution for a given scenario.

    • - Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, and presentation skills. Capable of delivering product and technology presentations to technical and business audiences.

    • - Familiarity with machine learning and AI applications in cybersecurity

    • - Outstanding project management and documentation skills. Ability to design and follow work plans for complex activities, and by following good documentation practices.

    • - Ability to work effectively, add value as a team member, and collaborate with a variety of teams such as engineering, sales, product management, and customer support.

    • - Ability to mentor other sales engineers and take a leadership role.

    • - Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, GCIA, GCIH) with vendor specific certifications are highly desirable.

    • - Regional and international travel is required.

    If you have experience with these technologies, you will be a strong candidate: SIEM, SOAR, Network Detection and Response, XDR, DLP, Identity and Access Management, Anti-Spam, Privileged Access Management, and Incident Response.

    Education:

    • - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.

    • - Spanish and English, Portuguese a plus.
