    Job description

Please note this is a speculative role. If we move to hire, the position will be hybrid and require days in our London studio as well as potential international travel. We cannot provide visas or UK relocation for this position, as it will be a contract role.

Combining our unrivalled creative craftsmanship with our technical prowess, we're dedicated to reframing expectations for both IP owners and their guests with creative technology, location-based entertainment, and mind-blowing theme park rides.

    About the role

Framestore is looking for a Realtime Generalist to join our growing Immersive team. You’ll collaborate with developers, artists, and production to create beautiful, optimised real-time content for location-based entertainment, VR, and immersive experiences.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong artistic eye and solid technical knowledge, who enjoys solving creative challenges in Unreal Engine and pushing what’s possible in real-time production.

    What you’ll do

    • You’ll work at the intersection of art and technology, helping bring environments, characters, and effects to life in Unreal Engine. You’ll collaborate with artists across departments to develop assets, lighting, and visual effects that meet the high standards of Framestore’s immersive work.

    • Create optimised assets, shaders, lighting, and particle effects in Unreal Engine.

    • Collaborate with environment and character artists on asset build and look development.

    • Build high-quality real-time environments for VR and immersive experiences.

    • Adapt and optimise assets from art departments and VFX teams for in-engine use.

    • Apply strong lighting techniques and guide others on lighting best practices.

    • Create blueprints and editor tools to automate tasks and speed up workflows.

    • Optimise content for performance and share modelling and texturing best practices.

    • Proven experience working with Unreal Engine (Blueprints, Sequencer, Editor, lighting).

    • Strong 3D art skills, with a deep understanding of real-time workflows.

    • Proficiency in modelling, texturing, shading, lighting, rigging, and particle effects.

    • Experience with PBR workflows and shader creation within Unreal Engine.

    • Comfortable creating blueprints and editor tools to help automate tasks, level design optimisation, etc.

    • Knowledge of Maya.

    • Knowledge of PCG and/or Houdini for procedural workflows.

    • Confidence with Photoshop, ZBrush/Mudbox, and Substance Painter.

    • Experience across a full digital art pipeline, from modelling to level art and rendering.

    • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, solution-focused mindset.

    You might also have

    • Hands-on experience with lookdev, lighting, and rendering in real-time environments.

    • A passion for innovation and helping shape the future of real-time immersive storytelling.
