    Overview

    Friendship Public Charter School operates a thriving network of college-preparatory public charter schools. Headquartered in Washington, DC. Friendship serves over 4,800 students in preschool to grade 12 and guides a growing network of alumni to college completion annually.  Our mission is to prepare students to become ethical, literate, well-rounded and self-sufficient citizens by providing a world-class education that motivates students to reach high academic standards, to enjoy learning, to achieve success, and to contribute actively to their communities.     Responsibilities

    • Available throughout the school year.
    • Believe deeply in the Friendship mission, core values, and four value drivers: (1) Excellent Teaching and Learning (2) Outstanding Leadership (3) Environment Conducive to Learning (4) Organizational Strength and Viability
    • Hold high academic and behavioral expectations for all students
    • Must be able to lead students to high levels of academic success in an urban school environment
    • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement effective curriculum units and lesson plans
    • Design and deliver engaging instruction that addresses the needs of a full range of different student learning styles
    • Ability to reflect on teaching practices and make adjustments to maximize learning time
    • Adhere to school management and discipline policies within the classroom and throughout school campus

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above preferred
    • Commitment to teaching students from a minority and/or lower socioeconomic background required
    • Urban teaching experience preferred
