We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for labour, materials and equipment during both the tendering and project execution stages;
- Assisting in the preparation of tenders, budgets, procurement plans, engineering documentation, drawings and technical submittals;
- Conducting site surveys in relation to prospective and ongoing projects;
- Designing, costing, commissioning and supporting HVAC and other mechanical systems;
- Sourcing local and international suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and equipment;
- Providing technical advice on the installation, operation and maintenance of HVAC and mechanical systems;
- Preparing purchase requisitions and coordinating procurement requirements;
- Monitoring site progress, carrying out site visits and reporting on project status and material usage;
- Liaising with the Construction Office regarding amendments to approved mechanical and HVAC drawings and specifications;
- Providing technical support to site teams during installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems;
- Assisting in the training and development of draughtspersons and technicians;
- Preparing regular and ad hoc reports and supporting the Division Manager in the recruitment and development of team members;
- Keeping up to date with industry developments, suppliers, products, materials and engineering best practices.
The ideal candidate should:
- Hold a relevant qualification at MQF Level 6 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering;
- Possess a sound technical understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services;
- Be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
- Experience with AutoCAD or other engineering design software will be considered an asset;
- Be organised, detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities;
- Be able to work under pressure and meet defined deadlines;
- Be self-motivated, proactive and able to work on own initiative;
- Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
