Position Summary

GEMCO is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support commercial and industrial electrical construction projects throughout the Indiana region. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for projects including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, renovations, tenant improvements, and design-build work.

We are specifically looking for candidates with electrical contractor estimating experience — not residential estimating or insurance/restoration estimating backgrounds.

The ideal candidate understands commercial electrical systems, labor forecasting, takeoffs, vendor coordination, and construction drawings and can work closely with operations teams to help win and successfully execute profitable projects.

This position is based in the Indianapolis/Carmel area.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine complete electrical scope

• Perform detailed takeoffs for conduit, feeders, lighting, switchgear, devices, and electrical distribution systems

• Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing for commercial and industrial projects

• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations

• Identify scope gaps, conflicts, and value engineering opportunities

• Prepare detailed bid proposals, scope letters, and estimate documentation

• Support preconstruction planning and project turnover meetings

• Coordinate with project managers, field leadership, vendors, and customers throughout the estimating process

• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial or industrial electrical estimating experience preferred

• Experience working for an electrical contractor strongly preferred

• Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems and construction methods

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications

• Experience with takeoffs, labor forecasting, and bid development

• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, and estimating software preferred

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Local candidates in the Indianapolis/Central Indiana area preferred
