Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking an experienced Supervisor to provide day-to-day supervision and operational oversight for patient registration and business services. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient registration processes, strong revenue cycle support, regulatory compliance, and exceptional service for patients, families, physicians, and staff.
Job Purpose
The Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision and operation of an assigned area, making decisions that may impact departmental performance, financial outcomes, and strategic results. This role directly supervises staff, supports budgeting efforts, and ensures services are delivered efficiently and in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
What You Will Do
- Supervise daily operations of patient registration and business services areas.
- Lead, coach, and evaluate staff, including hiring, performance reviews, corrective action, and terminations.
- Ensure departmental goals, priorities, and performance measures are carried out daily.
- Coordinate staffing and adjust work distribution based on patient volume and workload fluctuations.
- Monitor productivity, performance metrics, and operational data to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, legal regulations, and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with leadership and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate, timely patient registration and account flow.
- Address and resolve patient, physician, and customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and operational effectiveness.
- Support budgeting efforts by identifying projected needs and monitoring resource utilization.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and Everyday Excellence values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Healthcare Registration and Insurance Verification in a hospital setting (preferred)
- Prior supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of patient registration, insurance processes, and revenue cycle operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze operational data and adjust workflows accordingly
- Commitment to ethical conduct, compliance, and service excellence
Preferred Qualifications
- CHAM (Certified Healthcare Access Manager) certification preferred
- Experience working with registration systems and hospital information systems
