    TITLE: Part Time – Dental Infection Control Technician

    DIVISION: Faculty of Health Sciences

    SALARY: $26.94 per hour

    SCHEDULE: Monday to Wednesday (varied)

    HOURS PER WEEK: 24

    LOCATION: 51 Dockside Drive

    WORK MODALITY: On-site

    STATUS: Regular Part Time Support

    VACANCY: Replacement

    EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provides dispensary and front-line service to students and clients in Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Denturism, and Restorative Hygiene programs.
    • Responsible for handing out instruments to students and receiving instruments to be sterilized.
    • Answers questions and addresses concerns regarding supplies, orders and equipment.
    • Cleans, organizes and sterilizes student and faculty instruments by ensuring all instruments are placed in their proper place for easy locating; operating all forms of sterilization and all sterilization equipment.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Educational and Experience Requirements

    • Minimum one year certificate from a dental clinical program.
    • Infection Prevention and Control Certificate is an asset.
    • Minimum one year experience working in a dental environment involving a basic understanding of dental clinic and sterilization procedures.
    • Competency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
    • Committed to keeping current in the areas of dental assisting, health and safety and infection control policies and procedures.
    • Experience in handling hazardous substances, use of protective eye wear, gloves as well as a scrub uniform.

    Skills and Attributes

    • Excellent customer service skills, organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
    • Ability to lift up to 44 lbs. (e.g., boxes and supplies).
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
    • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the polytechnic’s priorities on equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenization (EDII).

    Please note: Hours of work will vary between 7:00 am - 8:00 pm (8 hours per day).

    Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.

    • The Polytechnic requires proof of degrees, credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and/or their international equivalents. Credentials may require validation at the time of interviews or offer.
    • Priority will be given to internal candidates per our Part-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement.
