A Brief OverviewThe Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized MRI equipment to produce computer-generated diagnostic images which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders. They perform procedures at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.
What you will do- Review orders prior to the day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.
- Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure and MR safety while utilizing effective communication.
- Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.
- Perform MRI procedures as required based on physician’s order.
- Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of MRI and related coils to obtain highest quality images of the anatomy being scanned.
- Start I.V., load and operate power injector, and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.
- Completion of exam in hospital information system.
- Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment.
- May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.
Education Qualifications- Associate's Degree under the completion of a Radiologic Technology program Required or
- Certificate under the completion of MRI technology program Required
Experience Qualifications- Minimum one (1) year MRI experience Preferred

- Proficiency in IV access for contrast media administration
Licenses and Certifications- Magnetic Resonance Imaging - American Registry Radiologic Technologist or registry eligible (if eligible must obtain MR certification within 24 months of hire or transfer date) Required
- Radiography - South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Preferred
- Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two year Required
