PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Camp & Farm Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the farm and camp environment through a combination of meal preparation, general labour, site maintenance, and security support functions.
This role exists to ensure that:
- Employees are provided with safe and nutritious meals
- Farm and camp facilities remain clean, functional, and organised
- Materials and equipment are handled efficiently
- The site remains secure and controlled
The position is critical to maintaining workforce wellbeing, operational continuity, and site safety within Geotic Industries Inc.’s integrated operational environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Meal Preparation & Kitchen Operations
- Prepare and cook daily meals for employees based on approved menus or supervisor instructions
- Ensure meals are nutritionally balanced, properly portioned, and served on time
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen environment
- Wash and sanitize utensils, cookware, and preparation areas before and after use
- Store food safely using proper temperature control and separation practices
- Monitor food supplies and report low stock levels
- Assist with receiving and checking food deliveries
- Dispose of waste properly to prevent contamination and pests
B. General Labour & Operational Support
- Perform general cleaning of work areas, accommodation spaces, kitchens, and surrounding grounds
- Assist with farm operations including harvesting support, sorting produce, and basic maintenance
- Set up and dismantle workspaces, tools, and equipment as required
- Lift, carry, load, and transport materials, supplies, and equipment
- Organize and store materials safely to prevent hazards or damage
- Support supervisors and team members in daily operational tasks
- Maintain cleanliness of tools and equipment’
C. Security & Site Control Support
- Monitor and control access to the farm and camp premises
- Verify identification of employees, visitors, and contractors
- Conduct routine patrols of the site, facilities, and surrounding areas
- Observe and report suspicious or unsafe activities
- Assist in preventing theft, damage, or misuse of company property
- Maintain basic security logs, visitor records, and incident reports
- Support enforcement of site rules, access restrictions, and curfew
D. Health, Safety & Hygiene Compliance
- Maintain high personal hygiene standards at all times
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and biosecurity procedures
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
- Handle tools, equipment, and kitchen appliances safely
- Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately
- Participate in safety briefings and emergency procedures
E. Emergency & General Support
- Assist in emergency situations such as injuries, fires, or evacuations
- Support supervisors in maintaining order during incidents
- Perform any additional duties assigned in support of camp and farm operations
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to:
• Farm Supervisor / Camp Boss
• May also receive instructions from Operations or Site Management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age: 18 years
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Medically fit for physically demanding work
• Valid medical clearance for food handling (where applicable)
• No serious criminal record (for security responsibilities)
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Experience
- Prior experience in farming, manual labour, cooking, or security is an asset but not mandatory
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
• Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene
• Awareness of safety practices and site rules
• Good observation and communication skills
• Ability to work in a team and adapt to multiple responsibilities
