PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Camp Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring the safe, continuous, and efficient operation of all camp facilities, utilities, and support systems that sustain Geotic Industries Inc.’s field-based workforce. The role exists to maintain living, sanitation, power, and water infrastructure to operational standards, ensuring that camp environments remain safe, functional, hygienic, and compliant with occupational safety and environmental requirements.
This role is critical to workforce continuity, operational readiness, and employee welfare in remote and semi-remote operational settings
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Camp Facilities Maintenance
- Maintain all camp buildings, accommodations, kitchens, washrooms, and common areas.
- Perform routine inspections of structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Carry out basic repairs and coordinate major repairs through supervisors.
Utilities and Equipment Operations
- Operate and monitor:
- Water pumps and water distribution systems
- Power generators and backup systems
- Fuel storage systems
- Waste management facilities
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of water and power to camp operations.
- Maintain operational logs for equipment usage and servicing
Sanitation and Environmental Controls
- Maintain sanitation systems including:
- Septic systems
- Waste disposal
- Drainage
- Enforce cleanliness standards in living and food preparation areas.
- Support environmental protection procedures to prevent contamination.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Adhere strictly to Geotic Industries Inc.’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) policies.
- Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report hazards, equipment faults, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Participate in safety drills and inspections.
Inventory and Supplies
- Track and report usage of:
- Fuel
- Water treatment chemicals
- Cleaning supplies
- Tools and spare parts
- Maintain proper storage of camp equipment and materials
Workforce Support
- Assist in setting up accommodations for new arrivals.
- Support transportation, loading, unloading, and logistics tasks.
Provide general assistance during emergencies or operational disruptions
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Camp Maintenance Officer reports to the Workforce Planner & Operations Manager. The role may receive operational instructions from the COO or CEO during emergency or high-risk situations.
SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE OBLIGATIONS
The Camp Maintenance Officer is legally obligated to:
- Comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act of Guyana.
- Follow company safety procedures at all times.
- Participate in mandatory safety training.
- Refuse unsafe work where serious risk exists.
Failure to comply with safety requirements may result in disciplinary action
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic secondary education or equivalent.
- Technical or vocational training in:
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical systems
- Plumbing or utilities (preferred but not mandatory).
- Valid driver’s license is an asset.
- Ability to work in remote field environments.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience operating generators, water pumps, or mechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with basic tools and repair methods.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Experience working in camps, farms, industrial or remote environments is highly desirable.

- Strong practical and mechanical aptitude.
- High reliability and attendance.
- Ability to work long hours and shifts.
- Basic record-keeping skills.
- Willingness to live on-site when required.
- Physically fit for manual labour and outdoor work.
GENERAL PROVISIONS
- This role is subject to rotational schedules and shift work.
- The employee must submit to medical clearance where required.
- The role may involve working in adverse weather conditions.
- The employee must comply with company Code of Conduct, Drug and Alcohol Policy, and Camp Behavioural Rules.
