PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Head of Camp & Farm Support Services is responsible for the overall management of camp and farm support services, including food operations, workforce welfare, accommodation standards, sanitation, first aid readiness, health monitoring, and emergency response coordination.
The role ensures that employees are provided with safe accommodations, nutritious meals, hygienic facilities, basic medical support, and a healthy living environment that promotes workforce wellbeing, productivity, morale, and operational continuity.
The position combines leadership of kitchen and food operations with responsibility for camp welfare systems and first-line workforce health support.
The Camp Operations & Workforce Welfare Manager serves as the Company's primary camp welfare representative and works closely with the COO, Facilities & Logistics Team, Security Personnel, and Supervisors to ensure camp operations remain safe, organized, and fully functional.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Kitchen Operations & Food Services Management
Develop and manage weekly and monthly menus for both camp and farm operations.
Ensure meals are:
• Nutritionally balanced
• Suitable for physically demanding work environments
• Culturally appropriate
• Cost-effective
Forecast food requirements based on workforce size and operational demands.
Supervise all kitchen personnel.
Oversee:
• Meal preparation
• Food storage
• Food packaging
• Transportation of meals between farm and camp
Ensure meals are delivered on schedule.
Maintain consistency in meal quality and portion control.
Monitor kitchen performance and implement improvements where necessary.
B. Workforce Welfare & Employee Wellbeing
Act as the primary welfare coordinator for employees residing at camp facilities.
Monitor employee welfare and living conditions.
Identify and report concerns relating to:
• Health
• Nutrition
• Fatigue
• Accommodation conditions
• Hygiene
Provide support and guidance to employees regarding camp wellbeing matters.
Promote a positive and healthy camp environment.
Recommend improvements to workforce welfare programs.
C. First Aid & Basic Medical Support
Serve as the designated First Aid Coordinator for camp and farm operations.
Maintain oversight of:
• First aid kits
• Medical supplies
• Emergency medical equipment
Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
Provide first-response assistance during:
• Workplace injuries
• Illnesses
• Medical emergencies
Maintain medical incident records.
Coordinate emergency evacuations where necessary.
Assist management in responding to health-related incidents.
Coordinate with external medical providers when required.
D. Camp Accommodation & Sanitation Management
Ensure camp accommodations remain:
• Clean
• Safe
• Functional
• Organized
Monitor:
• Sleeping quarters
• Washroom facilities
• Dining areas
• Kitchens
• Common areas
Implement sanitation and hygiene standards.
Report maintenance requirements to Facilities and Logistics.
Assist with room assignments and occupancy tracking.
E. Health, Hygiene & Infection Prevention
Promote proper hygiene practices throughout camp operations.
Monitor food safety standards.
Ensure compliance with:
• Food handling requirements
• Sanitation procedures
• Camp hygiene protocols
Conduct routine inspections of:
• Kitchens
• Dining facilities
• Washrooms
• Accommodation areas
Implement corrective actions where deficiencies are identified.
F. Procurement & Inventory Management
Prepare grocery and welfare supply requests.
Forecast food and consumable requirements.
Monitor inventory levels for:
• Food
• Cleaning supplies
• Medical supplies
• PPE
Implement FIFO inventory management practices.
Monitor usage trends and recommend purchasing adjustments.
Reduce waste and improve inventory efficiency.
G. Emergency Response Coordination
Support site emergency response activities.
Assist in:
• Medical emergencies
• Fire incidents
• Evacuations
• Severe weather events
Participate in emergency planning exercises.
Support incident investigations involving health or welfare concerns.
Maintain emergency contact information.
H. Staff Supervision
Supervise:
• Camp Baair (Chefs)
• Farm Baair (Chefs)
• Kitchen Assistants
• Camp & Farm Operations Assistants
Provide:
• Work assignments
• Performance feedback
• Training
• Coaching
Ensure staff maintain professional conduct and operational standards.
I. Compliance & Reporting
Maintain records relating to:
• Food operations
• Welfare inspections
• Medical supplies
• First aid incidents
• Camp occupancy
• Hygiene inspections
Submit regular reports to the COO.
Identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure camp operations remain inspection-ready at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience managing large-scale food operations or camp services
• Valid Food Handler's Certificate
• Nursing Certification or recognized medical qualification preferred

• Experience working in remote operational environments is an asset
