The Independent Living Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for educating the independent living clients through teaching sessions in addition to coordinating various aspects of the Independent Living Program.
Performance Standards
1. Abide by OPG#005: Corporate Compliance Plan and its Code of Conduct.
2. Implement the decisions of your immediate supervisor or managers within your chain of command.
3. Exhibit sensitivity to the clients’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
4. Provide a positive role model for the client s at all times through appearance, attitude, and behavior.
5. Attend all in-services, General Staff Meetings, and meetings called by their supervisor.
6. Work harmoniously and effectively with co-workers.
7. Accomplish objectives and consistently produce satisfactory work.
8. Is faithful in reporting to work, staying on the job, and helping to meet institutional emergencies.
9. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
10. Comply with department guidelines, the Organization and Personnel Guidelines, and all expectations set by Gibault’s administration.
11. Valid driver’s license preferred for the purpose of transporting the client s to various locations.
12. Conduct teaching sessions with clients in the IL program, as assigned.
13. Maintain various records, documents, and resources as assigned by the Supervisor of Independent Living.
14. Provide aftercare services for client, as assigned by the Supervisor of Independent Living.
15. Conduct college campus tours as assigned.
16. Coordinate entrance exams, financial aid, admissions, orientation, and enrollment procedures for client s attending post-secondary institutions.
17. Provide tutoring for clients in the CAP, GED or secondary public school programs and administer test inventories.
18. Complete client evaluations as needed.
19. Complete monthly client’s Individual Education Plans as assigned.
20. Maintain updated client files.
21. Ensure all IL clients are getting 3 hours of IL instruction a week, with 75% of the instruction experiential and a portion of the instruction being community based
22. Administer clients the Ansell Casey/Daniel Memorial Life Skills Assessment test.
23. Assist with producing individualized weekly lesson plans for clients based on their results from the Individualize life skills plan generated by the Daniel Memorial Institute Independent Living assessment for life skills program.
24. Log clients’ attendance daily.
25. Document all group lessons, IL tracking forms by following all IL Guidelines in regards to proper documentation and distribution protocol. A copy is uploaded to each client’s e-file.
26. Following proper “Records” Procedures.
27. Assist in organizing, preparing and sending monthly NYTD Reports to the DCS KidTraks website.
28. Work scheduled hours in residential programs as assigned by the department director. This may include evenings, weekends and overnights with a 24-hour availability for scheduling.
29. Take regular inventory of own emotional well-being. Develop and adhere to a self-care plan to promote wellness and prevent burnout.
30. Perform all other duties as assigned.
