Associate Director, Forensic Accounting & Litigation Support

Role Summary

The Associate Director, Forensic Accounting & Litigation Services plays a critical leadership and execution role on complex forensic accounting, economic damages, and litigation support engagements. This role operates as a senior, hands-on engagement leader beneath the Director level, responsible for translating ambiguity into structured analysis, guiding teams through complex problem solving, and serving as a trusted day-to-day advisor to legal counsel and clients.

The Associate Director independently leads substantial workstreams, exercises mature professional judgment under pressure, and meaningfully influences case outcomes, while operating within overall engagement strategy set by Directors and Managing Directors. Success in this role requires resilience, analytical rigor, intellectual agility, and the ability to adapt quickly in adversarial, time-compressed environments.

Key Responsibilities

Forensic & Litigation Engagement Execution

• Lead day-to-day execution of significant forensic accounting, economic damages, and litigation support workstreams across disputes, investigations, and valuation engagements.
• Rapidly structure incomplete, evolving, or contested financial information into defensible analyses, decision paths, and work products suitable for expert and client use.
• Develop, review, and refine financial models, damages analyses, valuation schedules, and supporting documentation under tight deadlines.
• Identify and assess key financial, operational, and evidentiary risks while maintaining analytical rigor, efficiency, and defensibility.

Judgment-Driven Problem Solving

• Apply strong independent judgment in ambiguous, high-pressure matters where precedent may be limited or facts are disputed.
• Design practical, case-specific analytical approaches rather than relying solely on standard methodologies.
• Balance analytical rigor, speed, and defensibility to maintain momentum and credibility under legal scrutiny.

Stakeholder Interaction & Client Service

• Serve as a primary day-to-day point of contact for attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders on assigned workstreams.
• Communicate complex financial findings, assumptions, risks, and conclusions clearly through written analyses, expert reports, and verbal discussions.
• Build stakeholder trust through responsiveness, professionalism, and consistently high-quality execution.
• Coordinate closely with Directors, Managing Directors, and external advisors to ensure alignment and efficient case progression.

Team Leadership & Development

• Supervise, coach, and review the work of Senior Associates and Associates, providing real-time feedback to ensure quality work product and professional growth.
• Delegate effectively while retaining accountability for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of deliverables.
• Maintain team focus and morale during high-pressure, deadline-intensive matters.
• Model strong professionalism, accountability, and analytical discipline.

Engagement Management & Firm Contribution

• Manage assigned workstreams within established budgets and timelines; proactively flag risks, scope changes, and issues.
• Accurately record and review billable time and support engagement utilization and profitability.
• Contribute to business development and marketing efforts, including client research, proposals, and pitch materials.
• Participate in firm initiatives related to training, knowledge development, and operational improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Typically 6–9+ years of experience in forensic accounting, litigation support, valuation, corporate finance, or dispute advisory roles.
• CPA, CPA candidate, CFA, CFF, CVA, or similar professional credential strongly preferred.
• Strong technical accounting, financial analysis, and financial modeling skills.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and reviewing expert reports, memoranda, and client deliverables.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast paced, adversarial environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience supporting complex commercial disputes, investigations, or expert testimony engagements.
• Familiarity with court procedures, discovery processes, and expert disclosure requirements.
• Advanced Excel modeling capability and proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Experience supervising and developing junior professionals.
• Strong client-facing presence with the ability to build credibility with trial counsel and senior stakeholders.
