Position Summary:

Lead the production team in such a manner to ensure that the proper set up of production and quality requirements and expectations are met. Assist and work as a part of the production team by performing quality control checks, moving parts into and out of the work area, and running production when needed. Responsible for all workers assigned to his/her specific work area. Additionally, Responsible for the safety and productivity of all production employees staffed.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Serve as a liaison between Superintendent, Production Leaders and Production Operators
• Oversee and coordinate the activities of the production department on the assigned shift
• Read and analyze production schedules and other records and reports to determine production requirements.
• Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals
• Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Daily communication with departments to assure quality, production and employee involvement.
• Train new employees and coach existing employee
• Maintain control of critical implements and materials in accordance with standards and policies
• Inspect finished goods for uniformity and compliance with specifications
• Coordinate and monitor special projects to maximize performance and production
• Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas
• Ensure compliance to all Company policies and practice
• Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign experienced employees to train worker
• Coordinate and monitor special projects to maximize performance and production.
• Participate in continuous improvement and assist in its implementation on an ongoing basis.
• Keep work area clean and well organized in a 5S manner.
• Maintain safety standards in the workplace.
• Ensure Quality in the workplace.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:

• Associate degree (2 years degree) in business, engineering or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
• 5+ years of experience operating presses or in a related area
• Forklift certified

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge: Knowledge of quality control, cost reduction, materials and productions processes; Knowledge of press operation, machine and tools; Knowledge of inventory management & control; Knowledge of lean manufacturing.

Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee may be required to climb stairs as needed to access various areas of the building. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus. Overtime may be necessary as work load’s dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.

Work Environments: Workers split their time between the production floor and the office area. They may be required to travel to and visit a customer’s facility and/or production facility. Job requires dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment physical and background checks.
