Nisga’a CIOPS delivers cleared professionals to support civilian and DoD customers worldwide across intelligence support, cyber/defensive cyber operations, IT O&M, infrastructure modernization, training, and logistics.
Summary:
The Water Treatment Operator will operate, monitor, and maintain water and wastewater treatment systems at FCI Otisville in New York. This is a Dual Wastewater and Water Treatment facility, and the position is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of both systems in accordance with applicable federal, state, and facility requirements.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment and wastewater treatment systems, equipment, and processes.
- Perform routine inspections, testing, sampling, and analysis to ensure treatment systems are operating within required parameters.
- Monitor pumps, valves, tanks, chemical feed systems, filtration systems, and other treatment equipment.
- Make operational adjustments as needed to maintain proper treatment processes and system performance.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, records, test results, and other required documentation.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and identify equipment malfunctions or conditions requiring repair.
- Handle and maintain treatment chemicals in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Respond to alarms, equipment issues, and other treatment system conditions as required.
- Ensure operations comply with applicable New York State, federal, and facility regulations, permits, and procedures.
- Coordinate with facility personnel and maintenance staff regarding treatment system operations, repairs, and issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of water treatment and wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and operating procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable New York State and federal water and wastewater regulations.
- Ability to perform water quality and wastewater testing and maintain accurate operational records.
- Ability to identify equipment issues and take appropriate corrective action.
- Ability to safely handle treatment chemicals and operate treatment equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work independently and follow established safety, environmental, and operating procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must hold valid New York State Wastewater Treatment Plant Certification at the Grade of Assistant/Shift Operator, Grade 2A or higher.
- Must hold valid New York State Water Treatment Plant Certification at the Assistant Operator, Grade C or higher.
- Candidates must be dually certified in both Wastewater Treatment and Water Treatment.
- Experience operating and/or maintaining water treatment and wastewater treatment systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required facility access, security clearance, or background investigation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating treatment systems in a correctional, government, municipal, or industrial facility.
- Experience with New York State water and wastewater treatment requirements.
- Experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and treatment system monitoring.
- Experience with computerized monitoring or control systems.
Pay and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 annually.
