    Job description

Global Investment Research – Equity Research Associate, Business & Information Services

You will join a collaborative, high-performing Equity Research team focused on the Business & Information Services sector. The team covers approximately 30 public companies across information services, professional services, business services and related industries. Associates play a meaningful role in the research process, including financial modeling, fundamental analysis, company earnings, thematic research and direct engagement with institutional investors and corporate management teams.

The team is based primarily in San Francisco and has developed a strong culture of collaboration, mentorship and long-term career development. Associates are encouraged to take ownership of their coverage responsibilities while working closely with teammates across the broader coverage universe, fostering both deep company expertise and broad sector knowledge. The role is well suited for intellectually curious individuals who enjoy fundamental research, thrive in a team-oriented environment and are interested in building a long-term career within Equity Research.

    Job Summary and Responsibilities

    • Work closely with members of the Equity Research team to conduct fundamental research within the Business & Information Services sector, supporting coverage of approximately 30 public companies.
    • Develop, maintain and enhance detailed financial models, earnings analyses, industry databases and company forecasts.
    • Serve as a lead associate on assigned stocks under coverage, with responsibility for financial modeling, earnings analysis, research production and day-to-day coverage maintenance while collaborating across the broader coverage universe to maintain backup coverage and shared sector expertise.
    • Conduct independent primary and secondary research using company filings, industry sources, proprietary data, expert insights and other research tools to identify actionable investment opportunities and risks.
    • Monitor company developments, industry trends, competitive dynamics and macroeconomic events, proactively identifying investment implications and bringing new ideas, observations and insights to the team.
    • Contribute to the development of research reports, thematic projects, client presentations and other thought leadership initiatives.
    • Communicate investment views and research findings with the Equities Sales force, institutional investors, company management teams and internal stakeholders.
    • Take initiative in identifying emerging topics, investigating new research questions and developing differentiated insights that enhance the team’s research product and value to clients.
    • Contribute to a highly collaborative, team-oriented culture that emphasizes intellectual curiosity, continuous learning, strong judgment and long-term professional development.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
    • 2+ years of experience in sell-side research, buy-side research, investment banking, valuation, or a related analytical role.
    • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a long-term career in sell-side Equity Research, with a genuine passion for fundamental research, investing and continuous learning.
    • Strong accounting, finance and valuation knowledge, including the ability to independently build and maintain three-statement financial models from a blank Excel worksheet and understand the relationships among the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, with a proven ability to identify errors, validate assumptions, reconcile data and maintain high levels of accuracy across research products.
    • Strong research skills, including the ability to independently gather, evaluate and synthesize information from a variety of sources and develop thoughtful, evidence-based conclusions.
    • Strong analytical and data-oriented mindset with the ability to connect disparate information, identify emerging trends and convert research findings into actionable investment insights.
    • Self-starter with an ownership mentality who proactively identifies opportunities, anticipates potential risks, exercises sound judgment and consistently seeks ways to improve outcomes for the team and clients.
    • Resourceful, intellectually curious and motivated to explore questions independently, develop original insights and pursue answers without waiting for direction.
    • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, a positive and professional demeanor and the confidence to identify issues, offer solutions, voice independent views, ask thoughtful follow-up questions and contribute constructively to discussions.
    • Coachable and receptive to feedback, with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, intellectual curiosity and professional development within a fast-paced environment.
