Weekend availability (both Saturday and Sunday) is an essential requirement of this role to be fully staffed to meet customer demand. Reliable transportation for each scheduled shift is highly important.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Lead plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the retail store by assisting the Store Manager in achieving production goals. This position is responsible for guiding and motivating associates to meet daily processing targets, ensuring quality standards are maintained, and fostering a positive and productive work environment aligned with Goodwill’s mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Store Manager in planning and organizing daily production activities.
Monitor and support associates in meeting individual and team production goals for sorting, pricing, and stocking merchandise.
Provide hands-on training and coaching to new and existing team members.
Ensure merchandise is processed efficiently and meets quality standards.
Maintain accurate records of production metrics and report progress to management.
Help manage workflow and prioritize tasks to meet store needs.
Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to resolve issues and improve processes.
Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
Deliver exceptional customer service by answering questions and helping.
Support the Store Manager with inventory control and loss prevention efforts.
Uphold Goodwill’s values and customer service standards in all interactions.

All other essential duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent required; internal applicants may submit proof of enrollment into a GED program
1 years’ experience supervisory experience in a retail or related environment or 1 years’ experience working in a Goodwill of the Chesapeake associate role required or a combination of 1 year supervisory and GIC experience

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION:

Assists with supervising the work of retail store staff in various roles on shift; Typically, between 4 – 12 full and part time employees per shift
Employees under the scope of supervision are in same location

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with POS systems.
Ability to complete tasks and assignments with numerous interruptions and little direct supervision
Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the telephone
Ability to provide and understand verbal instructions
Commitment to team building and improvement processes
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium

Lifting up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk, see, and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None

Travel is defined as travel to all areas within Goodwill’s territory (Cecil, Harford, Baltimore, Howard, and Anne Arundel Counties, Baltimore City and the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland). In some cases, long-distance travel, including overnights, may be required but is typically planned in advance. In some cases, travel may be unplanned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Moderate

Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.
