    Job description

    About the Role:

    The Retail Team Leader plays a pivotal role in driving the success of retail operations by leading and motivating a team to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve sales targets. This position requires overseeing daily store activities, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth. The Retail Team Leader is responsible for implementing company policies, managing inventory, and maintaining visual merchandising standards to enhance the customer experience. By analyzing sales data and customer feedback, the leader identifies opportunities for improvement and develops strategies to maximize store performance. Ultimately, this role ensures that both customers and employees have a rewarding and productive experience within the retail environment.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Proven experience in a retail environment with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team leader role.
    • Strong understanding of retail operations, including sales, inventory management, and customer service.
    • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as required.
    • Basic proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office applications.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree or higher in Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
    • Experience with staff training and development programs.
    • Familiarity with retail analytics and reporting tools.
    • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales targets.
    • Certification in customer service or retail management.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead, coach, and develop retail staff to achieve individual and team sales goals while maintaining high customer service standards.
    • Manage daily store operations including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory control.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and loss prevention protocols.
    • Monitor sales performance and customer satisfaction metrics, providing feedback and implementing action plans to address areas for improvement.
    • Coordinate visual merchandising and promotional activities to enhance the store’s appearance and attract customers.
    • Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally to maintain a positive shopping experience.
    • Collaborate with management to plan staffing schedules and manage labor costs effectively.

    Skills:

    The Retail Team Leader utilizes strong leadership and communication skills daily to motivate and guide team members toward achieving sales and service objectives. Problem-solving abilities are essential for addressing customer concerns and operational challenges efficiently. Organizational skills are applied to manage inventory, schedules, and store presentation effectively. Proficiency with retail technology, such as POS systems and sales tracking software, supports accurate transaction processing and performance analysis. Additionally, interpersonal skills foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages continuous improvement and employee engagement.
