    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 5 years of experience in product design for consumer electronics.
    • 5 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as NX, Creo, or Solidworks.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • 8 years of experience in consumer product design.
    • Experience shipping multiple consumer products in a lead or senior engineer role, and deep technical knowledge in multiple manufacturing methods used in consumer products.
    • Experience with higher cosmetic standard products and working with industry design.
    • Experience collaborating with suppliers around the world on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support.
    • System integration experience, including electro-mechanical components (audio, display, camera, antenna, etc.), waterproofing, thermals, grounding, or product architecture.
    • Work closely with external partners to support technology deployment and product development, with expertise in NX and team center.

    The AR Devices Platform Compute team at Google is responsible for the selection and development of critical platform components, including processor and display controller as well as related components, like communications and power.

    The Google Augmented Reality team is a group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.

    Responsibilities

    • Design complex subsystems or multiple individual parts from concept to production, including fixtures to enable automation of high precision assembly processes.
    • Collaborate with JDM teams supporting part design, and collaborate with suppliers of subsystems or individual parts throughout the design and manufacturing process.
    • Drive end-to-end discussions on system assembly process, prototyping, equipment and tooling needs for high precision assembly.
    • Identify the root cause of design, manufacturing, or reliability issues and develop corrective actions.
    • Design for technical depth and innovative ideas. Solve issues associated with the product development path using creativity and smart designs.
