The Opportunity:
The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan has an exciting opportunity for an experienced communicator and archivist who has a passion for heritage outreach and social media: a strategic thinker who is a persuasive storyteller. The Archives is seeking an individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills to be an enthusiastic champion of outreach for the heritage of our province.
Responsibilities
- Play a leadership role in the development of strategic outreach campaigns, programming, and tools to engage target audiences;
- Coordinate the delivery of outreach and educational programming through social media, websites, tours, presentations, exhibits, events, and media relations;
- Evaluate public programming and recommend improvements to enhance audience engagement and service delivery;
- Facilitate access and reference services to the Permanent Collection for both in-person and remote clients;
- Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of Reference and Outreach Services programs, policies, and procedures;
- Plan, develop and deliver public programming initiatives including events, presentations, tours, exhibits, and other public engagement tools and methods;
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, partners, and clients.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Communication techniques, methods, standards, mediums and software and equipment for effectively engaging with stakeholders, citizens, and other potential users of the archives including the use of social media.
- Knowledge and experience developing outreach programming to engage a wide variety of audiences.
- Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and values of archival science.
- Knowledge of copyright and access and privacy legislation and its impact on how records are made accessible for research or used in public programming.
- Knowledge of historic and current social, political, economic, cultural trends and issues relevant to the history of Saskatchewan and Western Canada, and research methodology and techniques necessary to support primary source investigation into those topics.
The successful candidate must:
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license
- Be able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 15kg on to and off of shelving.
- Be willing to operate lift equipment to retrieve materials in our storage area at heights up to 8 metres after receiving safety training and equipment.
- Be willing to work in an environment that may expose you to dust, mildew and/or moulds.
