The Opportunity:
The Division is seeking a highly motivated strategic leader to take on the responsibilities of Director within the Aboriginal Consultation Unit of the Lands and Consultation Branch. Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the government’s First Nation and Métis Consultation Policy Framework, planning and program development.
This includes providing advice and guidance to all government ministries and Crown corporations with respect to strategic policy, planning and programs that relate to the government’s legal duty and its policy obligations to consult with Saskatchewan First Nations and Métis communities. Typically, you will have several years’ experience as a senior manager and possess a graduate, post-graduate or law degree with emphasis on Indigenous matters, or equivalent experience in a related field, demanding equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Engage in complex, multi-party strategic planning activities that articulate vision, goals, resources, processes and outcomes.
- Provide leadership to a diverse group of professionals throughout the Ministry as well as aligning work with organizational goals and objectives for a high-performing branch.
- Utilize superior interpersonal skills to enhance and maintain positive working relationships with executive positions in various ministries, agencies, community leaders, federal government representatives and various stakeholders.
- Facilitate and negotiate solutions to complex issues using strong conceptual and collaborative problem solving, mediation and decision-making skills.
- Balance competing demands and expectations from elected officials, external partners and stakeholders, the general public and other government ministries and agencies.
- Create an environment that recognizes, supports, respects and welcomes diversity of employees and clients.
