    The Opportunity:

    We are seeking a proven leader to join the HRSC team as the Director, Portfolio Teams. This role oversees day-to-day operations of the branch and is responsible for ensuring client groups across Government are appropriately supported in HR operational and transactional work.

    This job is a middle manager role. Middle managers have a critical role in employee engagement and the culture of our organization. Your leadership will be required in translating and cascading strategic direction into operational actions contributing to the achievement of our goals. You will enable individual performance, manage teams and relationships, and facilitate collaboration within your branch and across the organization.

    Responsibilities

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Leads, coaches and supports a team of 4 out of scope individuals, who are responsible for approximately 40 staff, using effective people management practices and approaches to ensure a safe, engaging and values-based work environment;

    • Provides a leadership vision for the branch, including developing strategic direction, planning and establishing priorities and plans in alignment with organizational goals;

    • Develops and implements risk management strategies, audit controls, and policies to ensure client groups across Government are appropriately supported and receive high quality client service;

    • Co-leads, collaborates, consults, coordinates and communicates with other areas of the PSC to develop strategies and innovative solutions in a very wide range of HR processes to enhance services to clients and contributes to organizational efficiencies; and

    • Participates as strategic leader on the HRSC senior leadership team, supporting and championing division and organization-wide initiatives that positively contribute to effective organizational culture, high employee performance and engagement, safety and wellness.

    • Knowledge of and experience with effective leadership and human resource management practices

    • Strong problem identification and resolution skills and are known to be collaborative problem solver;

    • The ability to communicate in a clear and concise way, set clear priorities and follow up as needed, and resolve conflict in a constructive and respectful manner;

    • Knowledge of pay and benefit administration practices and policies, provincial legislation related to human resources, payroll and privacy, and experience interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements and Letters of Understanding;

    • Ability to develop and foster collaborative relationships in order to build consensus for new ideas, initiatives and directives and to meet organizational objectives.

    • Leads program development, evaluation, and strategic planning by analyzing issues, assessing context, and delivering recommendations that drive strategic change across government.
    • Monitors service standards and operational models to balance client needs, industry demands, and government priorities.
    • Provides strategic leadership to a team by supporting team development and cultivating a positive, results-driven work environment.
