The Opportunity:
The Ministry of Trade and Export Development is seeking a results-oriented, innovative Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and direction to the Corporate Services team. Based in Regina, this position is a key member of the ministry’s senior leadership team and provides strategic advice and leadership across the ministry’s financial management, corporate planning, IT, procurement, accommodations and corporate support functions. The successful candidate will bring strong executive judgement, collaborative leadership and a commitment to excellent client service and stewardship of public resources.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, the successful candidate will:
- Lead the ministry’s financial management, annual budget, forecasting and financial reporting processes, including the development of business cases and documentation to support budget decisions;
- Provide strategic financial advice, analysis and recommendations to the Deputy Minister, Assistant Deputy Minister and senior leadership, and maintain effective relationships with the Ministry of Finance, Provincial Auditor and other central agencies;
- Provide leadership for corporate and business planning, performance management, risk management and accountability processes across the ministry;
- provide strategic leadership and oversight for the ministry’s IT priorities and initiatives, ensuring technology investments and services align with ministry strategic and operational priorities;
- Lead the ministry’s operational and corporate services functions, including access and privacy, records management, legislation, procurement, accommodations, facilities, CVA and other corporate support services, ensuring effective stewardship and responsive service to ministry clients;
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Government of Saskatchewan’s regulatory modernization and red tape reduction initiatives, including engagement with the Red Tape Reduction Committee, intergovernmental collaboration, stakeholder relations, and the development of policies and strategies that enhance Saskatchewan’s regulatory competitiveness and business environment; and
- Participate as an active member of the ministry’s executive and senior leadership teams, contributing to ministry-wide strategy, priorities and organizational decision-making.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through a combination of relevant post-secondary education and significant senior leadership experience in financial management, corporate services, business administration or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation would be considered an asset.

- Knowledge of economics, marketing, and business administration;
- Experience in business development or economic development.
