SUMMARY
To perform all regular duties of a Grand Targhee Ski Patroller. These duties are categorized but not limited to the following areas; first-aid, customer service, avalanche control, mountain operations and patrol relations. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
FIRST AID:
1. Administer first-aid to guests and employees. Make assessment of injury, treatment and appropriate transportation decisions.
2. Complete appropriate documentation.
3. Perform as a functioning member of a rescue team.
4. Participate in all prescribed training and seminars.
5. Provide training for resort personnel.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
1. Be available to answer questions, give directions and be a Grand Targhee ambassador.
2. Provide superior service to our guests at all times.
3. Respond to all guests in a courteous and efficient manner.
4. Educate guests that violate the responsibility code.
5. Assist lost or out of control guests to more manageable terrain.
6. Treat others as you would be treated.
7. Participate in all prescribed guest service training.
AVALANCHE CONTROL:
1. Participate in avalanche hazard reduction. Explosives use and ski cutting.
2. Be involved with snow study.
3. Refine avalanche rescue skills.
4. Participate in avalanche training.
5. Provide avalanche training and information for company personnel and public seminars.
6. Weather reporting and collection of data.
MOUNTAIN OPERATIONS:
1. Perform trail opening procedures.
2. Perform trail closing procedures.
3. Maintain ropes, bamboo, signage.
4. Mark hazards on groomed runs.
5. Perform a variety of trail maintenance tasks.
6. Assist in mountain rescue, high and low angle rescues, lost persons searches and lift evacuations.
7. Participate in operations training and provide operations training to company personnel.
8. Perform other tasks as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:
1. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests at all times.
2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
5. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
6. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Basic education (high school).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have or be currently enrolled in on of the following courses: OEC, EMT, WEMT, WFR. Must be two rescuer CPR certified.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold and high, precarious places. The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate, and occasionally high.
