What's the opportunity?

As Assistant Manager, you’ll be No. 2 in our management team, working closely with the General Manager to help drive the success of the pub.

This is more than just a role supporting the day-to-day operation. We’re looking for someone who is ambitious, motivated and wants to progress.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Lead from the front, setting the standard for great service and creating memorable experiences for our customers.
• Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of a busy, food-led pub.
• Take ownership of shifts and confidently lead the team in the General Manager’s absence.
• Coach, motivate and develop the team, helping people to reach their potential.
• Build on our already strong service scores and help us deliver an outstanding customer experience every time.
• Help drive sales, performance and standards across the pub.
• Create a positive team environment where people enjoy coming to work.
• Build strong relationships with our customers and continue developing our reputation within the local community.
• Bring new ideas and energy to the business as we look for opportunities to grow.

What we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who has ambition, energy and a genuine passion for hospitality.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Manager or similar hospitality leadership role.
• Experience working in a busy pub, restaurant or food-led hospitality environment.
• A passion for delivering great customer service and creating experiences that keep customers coming back.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• The confidence to take ownership, make decisions and lead a shift.
• A hands-on approach – you’ll be happy getting stuck in alongside your team.
• A keen eye for detail and high standards across service, food, cleanliness and safety.
• The ability to stay calm, organised and adaptable when things get busy.
• Ambition to progress and make the most of the development opportunities available with Greene King.
• Sufficient spoken and written English to perform the role safely and understand allergen controls.
