    Job description

    About Us:

Grow was born to tackle a critical challenge: making mental health care more effective and accessible for everyone. Since launching in 2020, 15 million sessions have started on Grow, and we've barely scratched the surface. We do it through a three-sided marketplace that empowers providers, augments insurance payors, and serves patients. Every solution we build reveals ten more waiting to be delivered, and that's just what gets us going. We've backed that ambition with more than $328M in funding, including our Series D at a $3B valuation from Sequoia Capital, Transformation Capital, TCV, SignalFire, Menlo Ventures, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, and others.

At Grow, the work you do can literally change someone's life. Your work here doesn't stay on a screen; it impacts whether someone can find, afford, and access quality care. That ambition sets us apart, and offers you an endless runway to impact one of the world's most urgent issues. We don’t have passenger seats here. Everyone is driving something that matters.

This work deserves real commitment. So if you thrive on meeting problems head on, untangling serious complexity, and working at pace with the sharpest yet kindest people around, you've come to the right place.

    About the Internship

Where a day’s work is life-changing. Over 12 weeks, you’ll join a product engineering team and own a scoped project addressing a real client, provider, or business need. You’ll contribute to the technical approach and production code, work cross-functionally, and ship a solution with meaningful impact.

With support from a dedicated engineer Mentor and Engineering Manager, you’ll receive regular guidance, candid feedback, a midpoint review, and a final project review. As one of 10 interns in Grow’s founding New York City cohort, you’ll also participate in technical learning, leadership conversations, networking, and social experiences—and help shape the program for future interns.

What We Look for in an Intern

    • You’re building a strong technical foundation: You’re currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of Fall 2027 or Spring 2028. Through coursework or hands-on experience, you’ve developed familiarity with data structures, algorithms, software design, and at least one general-purpose programming language. Experience with Python, TypeScript, React, or similar technologies is helpful but not required.

    • You use AI tools with judgment: You’re comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to generate, debug, and verify code while thinking critically about correctness, privacy, security, and impact. (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar)

    • You show potential through practice: You’ve applied your skills through projects, research, hackathons, open-source contributions, student organizations, an internship or co-op, or other hands-on experiences.

    • You bring a high bar and high care: You value quality and attention to detail while treating teammates with kindness, honesty, and respect.

    • You build for the people we serve: You stay close to client, provider, and health-plan needs and bring urgency to work that can improve access to mental healthcare.

    What You'll Work On

    • Own a meaningful project that goes into production, becomes part of our product, and improves the client and provider experience.

    • Participate in planning, stand-ups, code reviews, demos, and retrospectives as a member of a product team

    • Investigate bugs, evaluate tradeoffs, and use data and customer context to improve your solution

    • Communicate progress, risks, decisions, and learnings throughout the internship

    • Present your project, technical approach, and impact at the end of the program

State-specific notices: Depending on your location, you may have additional rights. Illinois: If AI analyzes a video interview, we'll provide notice, explain how it works and what it evaluates, and obtain consent beforehand. New York City: Where required, we'll provide at least 10 business days’ notice before using an automated employment decision tool and explain how to request an alternative process. Maryland: We do not use facial recognition to create facial templates during interviews unless required notice and written consent are obtained.

Questions, accommodation requests, requests for an alternative selection process, objections to recording, or concerns about AI use? Contact [email protected]. We’re happy to help or offer an alternative way to participate.

    About the company

    Grow Therapy

We believe that therapy is an essential part of becoming the best versions of ourselves. No matter who you are or where you are starting, it's more than support through challenge - it's the foundation to grow, heal and lead lives that are more resilient, empathic, hopeful and powerful. Everyone should have the opportunity to receive personalized therapy, and therapists should be able to serve the communities they care about most, not just the 10% of people who can afford to pay out of pocket. Our mission is to get more people into therapy by bridging the gap between therapists and people seeking mental health care. Grow Therapy empowers independent therapists to launch and grow thriving in-network private practices by enabling them to tap into large scale credentialing, referrals, administrative and community support enabled by our passionate team and technology. When therapists no longer have the hassle of mundane admin tasks like billing and insurance claims or the limitations of out-of-pocket-only payment options, they can provide care to the communities who need it most! To achieve our lofty ambitions, we're building an ambitious team of entrepreneurs and mission-driven go-getters. Our founders come from Harvard Medical School, Stripe, and Blackstone, and bring Grow's mission to life from the inside-out, promoting holistic wellness for all team members. We balance our determination with a culture that champions well-being, from unlimited PTO and a Winter Break to Mental Health Mornings and learning and wellness stipends. Grow is backed by top VCs and angel investors, including leaders from SignalFire, Village Global, Airbnb, Nurx, PatientPing, and Blackstone. We have a long way to go to maximize our impact, but if we do our job well, in the coming years we will make a difference in countless lives. We hope you'll join us!
