Warehouse Supervisor

Position Overview

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day execution of warehouse operations supporting GTI Fabrication’s manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on leadership to warehouse and material handling teams while ensuring materials are received, stored, controlled, picked, staged, and delivered accurately and on time to support production requirements.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining material flow across a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing operation. The Warehouse Supervisor will lead frontline employees, drive safety and inventory discipline, coordinate priorities with Production, Planning, Supply Chain, and Quality, and ensure the warehouse is positioned to support changing manufacturing schedules and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate is a strong floor leader who understands warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment and can balance people leadership, inventory accuracy, material flow, and daily execution.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations & Material Flow

• Supervise daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, staging, material movement, and shipping support.
• Ensure materials are accurately and efficiently delivered to production based on manufacturing schedules and priorities.
• Coordinate material staging and replenishment to prevent shortages and production delays.
• Maintain organized and clearly defined warehouse, staging, and material storage areas.
• Monitor inbound and outbound material flow and quickly address bottlenecks, shortages, or competing priorities.
• Partner with Production, Planning, Procurement, Quality, and other Supply Chain functions to support manufacturing requirements.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials, purchased components, work-in-process, and finished goods.
• Support changing production priorities while maintaining control of warehouse operations.

Team Leadership & Development

• Provide direct supervision and daily leadership to Material Handlers, Forklift Operators, Warehouse Associates, Leads, and other assigned warehouse personnel.
• Establish clear expectations for safety, productivity, quality, attendance, and accountability.
• Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate workload, priorities, safety expectations, and operational changes.
• Assign labor based on workload, production requirements, and business priorities.
• Coach and develop employees while addressing performance or attendance issues in a timely manner.
• Build a team culture focused on ownership, urgency, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Support employee training and ensure team members are properly trained on warehouse processes, equipment, and safety requirements.

Inventory Control & Accuracy

• Maintain strong inventory accuracy through disciplined receiving, material movement, transaction, and storage practices.
• Ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately and timely within the ERP/WMS system.
• Support cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and partner with Inventory Control and Supply Chain teams to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Ensure materials are properly labeled, identified, located, and controlled throughout the warehouse.
• Reinforce FIFO, material traceability, and other inventory-control requirements where applicable.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure employees follow all GTI safety policies and warehouse procedures.
• Ensure safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, material handling equipment, and warehouse vehicles.
• Conduct routine floor observations and address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
• Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse areas utilizing 5S principles.
• Ensure material handling practices protect product quality and prevent damage, loss, or misidentification.
• Partner with EHS and Quality teams to resolve safety or material-related concerns.

Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor warehouse performance including productivity, inventory accuracy, material availability, receiving performance, and on-time material delivery to production.
• Identify opportunities to improve warehouse layout, material flow, labor utilization, staging, and overall efficiency.
• Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives focused on eliminating waste and improving material movement.
• Escalate material shortages, capacity constraints, inventory discrepancies, or operational risks that could impact production.
• Support warehouse readiness for production ramps, new product introductions, and changing customer demand.

Requirements

Required Qualifications 

• 3+ years of warehouse, distribution, material handling, or inventory experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• 1+ years of direct supervisory, lead, or frontline leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading hourly warehouse or material handling employees.
• Strong understanding of receiving, inventory control, material staging, picking, and warehouse operations.
• Experience supporting material flow within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Working knowledge of ERP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Experience with cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and inventory accuracy processes.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work effectively across Production, Supply Chain, Planning, Quality, and other operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications 

• 5+ years of warehouse or materials experience within manufacturing.
• Previous Warehouse Supervisor or Materials Supervisor experience.
• Experience supporting high-mix, engineered-to-order, contract manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial assembly operations.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, visual management, and continuous improvement.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Forklift and material handling equipment experience or certification.
• Experience supporting manufacturing ramp-ups or rapidly growing operations.
