We are currently seeking a Commodity Buyer to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa.

About the Role

As a Commodity Buyer, you will be responsible for managing assigned commodity sourcing activities, developing supplier partnerships, and leading commercial negotiations to support production and project requirements.

This role plays a critical part in executing procurement strategies through sourcing, RFQ management, supplier development, commercial support, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Source components and identify qualified suppliers
• Manage RFQ processes and supplier evaluations
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
• Support supplier development and performance improvement activities
• Partner with Engineering teams to support commercial decision-making
• Resolve supply chain and supplier-related issues
• Drive cost reduction and value improvement initiatives
• Prepare sourcing recommendations and business cases
• Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics

What We're Looking For

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain management

Skills & Competencies

• Strong commercial negotiation skills
• Cost analysis and total cost of ownership assessment
• Supplier relationship and performance management
• Proactive risk identification and mitigation
• Contract and commercial awareness
• Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
• Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
