    Job Description: Advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. Nurse blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions patients. Position practices within a framework of evidence-based primary care, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. Practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families, and communities. This includes community needs assessments; supporting inter-professional collaboration and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects. provides clinical assessment and treatment strategies that reflect in-depth knowledge of the care populations.

    Education:

    • Must be registered with the SRNA and licensed as RN(NP)
    • Masters Degree in Nursing preferred
    • Required to participate in ongoing related education as specified by the employer

    Experience:

    • The incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse
    • Enhanced knowledge of clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and stable chronic diseases
    • Knowledge of advanced communications strategies and approaches to adapt to multiple and ever changing situations and environments
    • Knowledge of community development and facilitation strategies
    • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques

    • This position requires a person who is able to be very alert, versatile and able to function within a broad range of situations
    • The employee must be in good physical, mental and emotional health, have good health maintenance and stress management strategies in place
    • Knowledge of leadership strategies in order encourage, advise and collaborate with colleagues to achieve client/patient, team and organizational goals within available resources
    • May be required to provide Nursing Leadership in other communities on an emergency basis
    • Level C, Basic Cardiac Life Support
    • ACLS certification
    • Valid driver's license

    • Demonstrates clinical/health assessment, diagnostic, pharmacotherapeutics and therapeutic intervention skills working to the scope of practice of the RN(NP) role
    • Demonstrates communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, that creates positive outcomes, builds relationships, and supports the change process.
    • Demonstrates leadership, confidence and autonomy in the RN (NP) role.
    • Demonstrates organizational capacity to plan, implement and evaluate multiple assessments, projects and deadlines at the individual, group and community levels.
    • Demonstrates teaching and educational skills and strategies that ensure learner readiness and produce positive healthy outcomes for individuals, groups and communities.
    • Demonstrates facilitation skills in successfully promoting collaborative practice with other health professionals and the community clinic team.
    • Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care
    • Demonstrates ability and initiative in handling difficult situations resulting in productive outcomes
    • Demonstrates ability and flexibility adapting to changing situations and environments
    • Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, and employee and patient safety in the context of quality improvement and risk management.
