At HealthSource Saginaw, we are seeking Cooks that are passionate about serving others to join our Dining team. Our kitchen plays an important role in supporting the health, well-being, and recovery of our patients and residents. As a Cook, you will prepare high quality meals for patients, residents, visitors, and staff across our facility through a centralized/decentralized pod service model. What You’ll Do:
The Cook will perform the full range of assignments including but not limited to:
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, while following all health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Prepare food for cafeteria and special functions that includes facility residents, patients, employees, and visitors.
- Prepare food according to principles, concepts, and practices of food preparation including the use of production sheets, standardized recipes, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) logs.
- Perform preparation of food items including but not limited to washing, trimming, portioning, panning, and seasoning.
- Follow written and oral instructions specifying the type and quantity of food to be prepared and the size of portions for residents/patients (regular and special diets).
- Inspect and taste all products for correct seasonings, quality, appearance, and temperature. Utilize progressive cooking methods to complete food preparation in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the preparation area has the proper supply, incoming and existing stock is accurately labeled, and all storage practices meet food safety standards.
- Operate a variety of manual and automatic commercial kitchen tools and equipment. Follow proper procedures to always utilize equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Ensure working areas are clean, including keeping sanitary condition of utensils, counters, glass, stainless-steel equipment, and more.
- May perform duties of a Food Service Worker as needed, adhering to established policies, procedures, and standards of sanitation, food preparation, tray assembly, service, safety, and resident/patient interaction.
What We’re Looking For:
REQUIRED:
- Must be at least 16 years of age. Minors must be actively enrolled in high school and have a valid work permit.
- Previous cooking experience.
PREFERRED:
- ServSafe or other related certification.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or at least 18 years of age with previous cooking experience.
