As a Registered Nurse in our Observation/Short Stay Unit, you'll deliver compassionate, efficient care to patients requiring brief hospitalization and close monitoring. Using Relationship-Based Care principles, you'll build strong connections with patients, families, and the care team while managing rapid patient flow and dynamic clinical situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rapid Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct thorough initial assessments and continuous observation of patients, quickly identifying changes in condition and responding with clinical judgment appropriate to the short-stay setting.
- Efficient Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize timely diagnosis, treatment, and safe discharge within the observation timeframe.
- Direct Patient Care: Provide hands-on nursing care, administer medications and treatments, and educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Supervise and coordinate with healthcare team members, communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary staff, and contribute to a cohesive care environment.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Apply current clinical evidence and best practices to optimize patient outcomes and maintain quality standards specific to observation care.
- Operational Support: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned to support unit operations.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S) REQUIRED:
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Current ACLS or obtain within six (6) months.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
